So, what do you think is the future of the Browning A-bolt II? With the advent of the new X-bolt style rifles do you think Browning will discontinue the A-bolt series?

Hasn't a gun mfgr always dropped the older design as time went on? I can't think of one who dropped the new for the old design.

I bought an X-bolt in February of 2010. It was a SHOT show special that was released that January. I got a steal!
At the time I was working in a gun shop and was told by a Browning rep the only reason they still had the Abolt was because 2010 was the 25th anniversary of the A-bolt and they were t=doing a special run of 25th anniversary guns. By his account, that should have been the last year. I believe they are still being made so either he was full of shit or things changed. I love my x-bolt. I think it has some good improvements over the A-bolt which was also a great rifle.

The Remington 700 comes to mind as standing the test of time.

I've had an A-Bolt since the mid-90s and I've found it to be an accurate and very ergonomic rifle.  However, my only gripe has been that there is virutally no after market accessories for this rifle (i.e. tactical stock).
