.. but I am enjoying shooting my AR's more than my AK's..
Not sure what it is, but these AR's are really fun to shoot.. |
|
Any of you guys ever shoot an AK without eye pro on? I cant stand that pulse of air that gets shot back into my eyeball. Its from the carrier moving backwards and pushing air out of the gaps around the dust cover latch.
I rarely shoot without eye pro. Usually its because I forgot to grab a set before going out to the range. But I cannot imagine having an AK as a "go to" gun for this reason alone. Not to mention the shitty ergos and crappy sights. Now, some of you are going to say the same thing about an AR and the gas escaping around the charging handle. But Ive never noticed this problem before, even when running the gun very wet. YMMV I guess.. Anyways, in response to the OP: ARs are where its at. Just for the modularity alone (pushing two pins gets you .223, 300 blk, 762x39, 5.45, .22, and on and on and on..). The ergos and awesome sights are just the icing on the cake. |
|
I never noticed a pressure blowback with a AK, but I do with a DI AR.
I love shooting my AR's too. They are fun little range toys with their little varmint round. I like my AK for up close because of the 123 gr bullet vs the 62 I use in my AR. I like my LAR8 for farther away use because of its 168gr bullet @ 2550 fps out of a 20" barrel, even if it does blow oil back in my face. But I just really like shooting my AR. |

I honestly have never noticed this( I should also say that I've also never noticed it with an AR). And, as little as i hate to admit it, I pretty much never use eye pro. (I know, I'm asking for an injury.) Does anyone else get this pulse of air? |

That's because an AR is a better weapon Designed and manufactured by better people, in a better country too. Better people? Please explain to me how Americans are better than Russians, or people from any other country for that matter.
When I finish my Yugo, we'll see just what all this AK hype is about. I've shot one before, but it was from a bench, so I didn't really get a feel for it. |

You didn't offend me at all, but your statement is just plain stupid. Who are you to say that one group of people is "better" than another? ETA: So if I find a guy from a third world country who's uneducated and poor, I'm automatically "better" than him because I'm an educated, well-off American? Is that connecting the dots enough for you? That was a stupid ass statement on your part. |

You've been challenged on your B.S. statement, and now you want to be dismissive. And upon reading your edit, I'm prompted to say that it's people like you that make this nation look bad. The stereotypical American who thinks that everything and everyone else is beneath him and everything should go the way he thinks it should. |

Not everybody is equal regardless of the "yay, everyone is a winner" and "musical chairs where everyone gets a seat" mentality. Just the way it is. Take your hippie bullshit back to the drum circle. |

I really hope that you contribute something great to this nation for all of this nonsense talking you're doing. Oh, and hippie? You obviously have no idea who I am if you even halfway call me a hippie. |

I provide people with work and generate goods and services. I vote and pay my taxes. You don't like what I have to say, there is a little button under my posts you can hit. Nor am I ashamed to be a stereotypical American. I'd much rather be that than the apologetic American that the current President is. Ashamed of what makes this country exceptional. I tire far more of that noise. I don't buy into that "citizen of the world" nonsense. |

Congratulations, and we'll see how long that lasts. And I'm willing to bet that if there ever is a demise of this country, it will be a direct result of the actions of people like yourself. You know, those people who think that everything should be their way. And again, I don't consider myself to be a very open-minded individual (or a "hippie" as you put it), and I'm pretty unapologetic and stern in my ways, but to think that I'm better than someone else because of where I live and my credentials (or the credentials of my country) is dumb. |

Really? People like me who work hard 7 days a week? Hopefully you put as much effort into work as you do into getting bent out of shape over a comment that was made half-jokingly. Because I can assure you, "people like me" aren't what is wrong with this country. |

If you would've simply said that you were saying it in a jokingly way, I would've taken it as that, but, alas, you didn't. And as far as work, I work, and I'm a college student. Right out of high school, I worked 2 jobs and bought my own car, paid my own insurance, cell phone, and attended college in the fall. No parental help here. As a matter of fact, I was offered a manager's position at my job when I was only 18 years old, after only being there 3 months, which I respectfully refused, because my boss wanted me to switch universities in order to stay in my hometown and work there. |
