I have a model 12 that ive owned for 10 or so years now but im not really sure what i have.

It is a 16 gauge with a solid rib 26" (i believe) barrel. The barrel is also nickel steel.
The serial number is 1022xx dating it to 1915. All numbers i can find match.
What confuses me is it has a very nice walnut monte carlo stock and forearm. The bolt, and shell lifter are also jeweled.

Any idea what this might be? are the stock and jeweling aftermarket?

Ill post pictures later tonight.

I have a model 12 that sounds close to what you have except mine is in 12 gauge. Mine is a Pigeon Grade Trap model. Hope this helps.

Do you have pictures?

Also does yours date to the same time period as mine? I see some later years (30s-40s) skeet grades but mine is much older.

Yes. Those are not original to the gun.  Still a nice gun.

Dude, you got an awesome piece there!!! My guess is it has a 2 9/16" chamber which I believe ammo is available for them. I have several 12 and 20 gauges with solid ribs. They weren't a common thing but then not REAL hard to find. With what sounds like "Trap grade" or " Pigeon Grade" wood on it, either a previous owner spent some crazy money to get that wood on it or it may be original. On the bottom of the receiver it may have the stamping "Model 12 Trap" or " Trap Grade" or if a Pigeon Grade it would have a stamping [ out line] of a Pigeon on the bottom of the receiver extention. If Trap Grade, it'd be in the $1,000 to $1,500 range [depending on condition] or if Pigeon Grade value could be around $2,000 to $3,000 range. If it's niether of those grades you still got a gun pushing $1,000 in value! That gun is NEVER gonna wear out in your lifetime!!! Nickel Steel is highly wear resistant and corrosion resistant, because of that alot of the older Nickel Steel barrels that have been re-blued will have a plum [purple] color/shade to them. I bought a 12 ga. with solid rib off a former State Trapshooting champion. the muzzle measured .698 [industry standard for full choke]. I asked him how many rounds he may have put thru it and he said he knows he'd put 100,000 rounds thru it. There was NO WEAR on that bore after 100,000 rounds!!! And that gun was made in 1931 and was made of " Winchester Proof Steel" not the Nickel Steel.
