I see the prices drop to 1600 (basic) and I might consider one when they get to about 1200 or less but have questions

are the receivers the same but the forgrip is different?

can you upgrade your basic to an enhanced later since its modular?

The only difference between the enhanced and the basic is the stock, forend, and flash hider. So to answer your question: yes you can buy a basic and upgrade it to "enhanced" configuration later.

thats why they are 600+ more ...  the forend and stock?

Is it really worth it?

I paid about $1800 for my enhanced, I havnt seen a basic cheap enough to justify buying it with the intent of spending $300 in addition for whatever the basic costs to end up with an enhanced. That said I wish someone would come out with an aftermarket rail system thats a little longer and does not have the stupid QD things in the front of it (or atleast integrates them so the rail they are on is useful and makes them limeted rotation), I removed them to use a sling mount that won't twist its self up on me and so I could run my IR laser and light in a dual mount on the 3 OClock position and I have to keep the mount behind the cutout for the QD receptacle because the cut out for it is too wide to capture the Larue rail lug. I dont expect Bushmaster to come out with anything more than a glorified YHM rail but I am suprised that no aftermarket companys have come out with anything. YMMV

The SCAR is not flexible on the forearm.  You can get rails extenders, and soon, there will be 3rd party side rails available, but the forearm itself cannot be replaced.  The receiver forearm. as designed, is an integral part of the barrel assembly alignment system.

The stock on the SCAR is replaceable, but I'm not aware of 3rd party options available at this time, though Vltor was working on an apadter to allow use of AR stocks.
