My very close friend gave me the following information regarding a Broomhandle Mauser he has. I've seen the Mauser in person, it was brought back from WWII by his late dad, whom I also knew very well.
Can anyone either let me know what the approximate value might be or point me in the right direction to ask one of the Mauser experts? The Mauser is in excellent condition and pictures are forthcoming. I would estimate the condition at better than 95%, maybe higher. Then again, I'm not a Mauser expert. Here's the info: WaffenfabrikMauser Oberndorf R. Neckar D.R.P.u.a.p. Broomhandle 7.63 Serial Number: 53219 |

Not a blue-book value, but ballpark on an NRA-good Broomhandle in the original 7.62 would be probably at least $1200, more for Very Good condition. More... if it accepts the wooden holster/stock. More... if it actually HAS the wooden holster/stock. (exempt from the NFA SBR category as a C&R too!)
More more more.. if it's got something specifically or unusually rare about it, Nazi/wermacht proofmarks or acceptance marks, or something else unique about it like a rare serial number range, or factory or original commercial engraving, presentation kit/boxes etc. |

Climb14er,
First off, extremely nice broomhandle your friend has. However, I hope he also has an ATF form 4 to go with it to verify its transferrable status on the NFA registry. Without that, it is an illegal machine gun. As evidenced by the selector on the left hand side of the grip frame. Wpns Man |

Wpns Man This was a gift to him by his late dad who served honorably in WWII and legally brought it back home. He doesn't know if his dad registered it back in the 1960's when there was the 'amnesty period'. In fact, my friend never knew anything about the amnesty period. Both he and his dad were Past Masters of one of the local Masonic Lodges of which I too am a member. Everyone is legit, above-board and he's not trying to circumvent any 'process'. The Mauser was stored in his safe for many years. Appreciate the comments. |

If I were you I would tell him that he needs to find out if it is registered ASAP. ETA: That is a beautiful piece though, I hope for your friends sake that it is properly registered. |

I gave him the phone number of the local BATF office here in Denver re: finding out it was registered by his late dad. |

His dad is six feet under, for a quite a few years. Damn I'm an idiot, I read know instead of knew in the OP. Well I hope your friend gets good news from the ATF. |

I didn't see the photos, but If it is a Schnellfeuer and IF you can not find the war trophy papers and it was not registered in 68 then it has to go. However only the frame has to be surrendered!
Strip the frame and keep the parts and the upper, magazine and stock. They all have good value. Sarge |

If it were me I would rather weld it up as demil and keep it. If it were me I would have known better then to have posted it up here in the first place ![]() I would contact an NFA lawyer. There is no reason such a rare piece should be destroyed. Surely a musem would be interested, if nothing else. |

well im glad your back to posting, your absense had me worried Thanks and appreciate. I've always tried to do what's right, learned this from my late dad. My friend... raised the same way. He just wanted some information and wasn't trying to stir up anything. I trust that all here realize that as well. |
