Hey folks. I don't post much, but I just cant make up my mind on this one. I'm going to make one more big (for my budget) firearm purchase before starting to save for other things. I'm good on gear and guns (as far as needs not necessarily desires) but I would like to round everything off with one (can't afford all) of these three items: a second optic for my AR's, supressor or gen II (can't afford III) night vision.
I'm looking at:

1. Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x24. Currently use a Vortex Strikfire and it's been great, but I'd like to move it to my 11" and use the Trijicon for my primary. I like the idea of having variable power, so not really considering an ACOG (unless I can be conviced otherwise)

2. YHM Phantom supressor.

3. D300 2ST gen II night vision

At $1500, the D300 is really the top end of my budget and I'm only willing to shell that out because that is the minimum level of acceptable performance that I'm looking for in NV. As far as the optic and supressor Im looking in the $500-$800 range. What do you guys think of my choices and what category would you suggest? Thanks

I'd go with the additional AR optic as you'll probably get the most use out of it.

Silencers are cool, but aside from silenced subsonic calibers like in .22LR or larger calibers like .44mag, they still make too much noise for me. Plus there's the tax stamp and hassle.

Night vision stuff is neat but really, how often are you going to use it? Most of the people I know who have gotten various NV gear go through a phase and then it ends up sitting in a drawer. Maybe if you really do need to kill people in the dark on a regular basis it'd come in handy. Shooting any game around here in the dark is illegal but I guess if you wanted to go hard-core poaching that'd be the ticket.

Suppressor and optic should still fit the top end of your budget.

I would get either or both of those before the NV.

suppressor
by the time its "in hand" you'll have saved up enough money to buy whatever is second on the list.

besides, a suppressor is a lifetime purchase.  and if you are the type to believe that eventually some of our goodies will be restricted, the suppressor will be on the top of the "newly restricted" list.

that being said, I have a YHM stainless suppressor in 223/556 and though not hollywood quiet by any stretch, its worth having.  sure its heavier than the XXX brand can that's 50% more expensive and the mount is arguably fugly, but its a very well built can.

Get the Accupoint.

I have their TR24G, 1-4x24 (30mm tube) Green Triangle.

I'd go with the AccuPoint too.  Mine goes to the range every time I go and there is a strong market for it should you change your mind.

I also own a D300. While a good entry into NV not as useful as a good quality scope.  You are also at the bottom end of the usable NV world with the D300.

My buddy has a suppressor on his AR and it's nice but adds a lot of real estate to the front end.  I would, most likely, upgrade my NV before purchasing an AR suppressor.
I am getting one for my UMP but putting it on a .45 SBR, to me, makes more sense than an AR.
