Thats a nice start, but watch out. Garanditis is more infectious than BRD http://www.adcofirearms.com/junkpics/m11911.jpg Yeah tell me about it...at 14 right now, will be at 26 end of next year, 38 the following, 50 the one after that. I hope at 50 I can stop.... Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Everyone says I'm crazy for owning four Garands...they should stop by this board sometime I don't have good pictures of my three full-sized guns, but I posted my shorty on the M1/M1A board not long ago and am always happy to have an excuse to post it again... http://www.apexgunsmithing.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=77&g2_serialNumber=1 http://www.apexgunsmithing.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=150&g2_serialNumber=2 The top image is a couple years old, so you can see how my photography skills have improved For those interested the shorty is a Winchester receiver, lock bar type rear sight. The brake is a Smith Enterprise. I never found out who did the conversion but it was a professional job and the gun functions flawlessly. The full sized rifle in the first pic is also a Winchester, fitted with national match sights. |

Some great rifles in this thread.
I just went to the CMP North store yesterday and picked up my first. I went with full intention of picking up a service grade, but I ended up finding a field grade with ME of well under 1, TE unknown. Wood is two tone and beat up but I think it will be a good shooter. 2.4 million Springfield receiver SA barrel, 12-51 HRA Bolt |

Ahh so they're not wallet busting expensive? I just assumed the older ones in that good of condition would be quite expensive. Maybe I can find one after all. What are the desirable models and/or features when looking for one? An M1 with a 1942 receiver, with all post war replacement parts sells for around $600. An M1 will all the correct dated/drawing numbers with a 1942 receiver can run around $1500.00. I'd say the average cost for a "correct" Mid(SA/GAW) WWII Garand is about $1200.00. Garands are like any other "antique" collectible. Different variations have different values. An original, properly catouched WRA stock from 1942, in good shape will cost more than $600 by itself. |
