What's the word on HSM ammo? I see guys on the "the best of the west" kill elk with HSM ammo from 600-1K yards on the outdoor channel all the time so it's gotta be good right?
I also don't think I'm reading their pdf of prices correctly... Is it really only $16.95 for a box of loaded 55g Hornady V-max .22-250? for argments sake, disregard handloads, the shooter, the rifle, the weather, energy on target, etc. If FGMM is a 10/10 in the accuracy department, how does HSM stack up? |
| My father bought a pantload of their .223 55gr FMJ. In a word.....totalgarbage. In his 20" AR it won't do better than 3 MOA, with Corbon 55gr FMJ he can get 1.5" all day long. He is probably going to pull the bullets and rebuil;d the stuff, hoping it is bad/poorly measured powder as opposed to bad bullets. Just my experience, YMMV. |

I have shot a few 50rd boxes of 55grSP .223 through a Savage and Ruger bolt action and it shot as well as most standard factory ammo. 1.5-2moa, overall decent ammo, but not top of the line.
Also shot a few boxes of 9mm &.40 no real accuracy testing, but it functioned 100%. |

I can't comment on their quality becuase I haven't cracked any of my cases open, but they really did us evil shooters of military caliber weapons a big favor when they allowed a FOOKING HHEEEEEEEOOOOGE group buy thru another site. As in, so big it took a few months to load and ship it all. They were selling reloaded and crimped 62gr SS109 projo ammo for $210 a case shipped at a time when the cheapest you could find the real deal was $450. They had all military calibers available and shipped out just exactly like they said they would.
Good People too. |

I have been wanting to do a 6.5 swede build for some time as well as pick up a .22-250 for varmints. Seeing the 6.5 loaded with 142g SMKs for $22/box makes me want to start that build even more!
On top of that, .22-250 loaded with 55g V-maxs for $17 convinces me that (if it's MOA ammo) it would be a far superior varmint gun than a run of the mill .223 |
