| I want to add a 7.62/51 SA to my collection. Both guns are interesting, which would anyone buy over the other and why. Thanks |

The FAL can be had much cheaper for only a slight reduction in effectiveness (ergos and accuracy). It depends how tacticool you want it to be.
You can buy a lot of ammo and mags with the price difference. As well as an optic. Good luck finding spare parts for the SCAR. I say FAL. |

I was just screwing around with my FAL today, and hated the rock in mags. Especially the new and refinished ones. What a pain. Only the beat to crap used mags went in and out easily.
And it's heavy as a boat anchor. And the controls, while nicely placed, are too small. SCAR for sure! |

waiting for scar (hype) prices to come down and see how it does in the field before buying one. For now I would stick with the proven battle rifle that is cheaper, has more parts and easy to work on.
In the mean time I have a DSA FAL (OSW) being registered less than 2 ft long and in 308 - the ultimate PDW |

Spares are a issue that why I like the the heavy boat anchor MK14 and the new LMT.
With the LMT you retain a good amount of parts commonality with the AR which most people on here own at least one. Plus don't forget the LMT beat the SCAR17 and HK417 in tests for the MOD. |

I like the LMT a lot and would buy one if I had the money, but if all three passed the tests/trials for their new rifle, the lowest price would win, right? That would be the LMT I'm guessing? I don't know the specifics of how the other two rifles compared, but I'm just throwing that out there. I don't know if they were given satisfactory scores in the procurement process or not. |

Quoted: Quoted: FAL. The SCAR is not bad, but it's probably a good idea to wait a few years to see it's track record and what aftermarket products will emerge. The SCAR is a lot more expensive too. It might come down in price in the future. FALs aren't that cheap either. At least the good reputable ones. Pretty much any .308 battle rifle is going to be around $1500. That's just the base models, the more "accessorized" versions are close to the price of the SCAR 17. |
