I have a Colt pre-ban. I'm not sure how old it is. It has the dark gray finish and reinforced mag well (it's not a slab side).
16" Colt M4 bbl with a older knights foregrip. Very good condition. No major dents or dings. I probably put 4000 rounds through it. I pulled the bolt carrier group out of it years ago to complete another build. The loaded question...what would be a fair asking price for this rifle without the bolt carrier group? Thanks for your input. |

You would be better off taking the BCG out of that other build and selling the colt complete. Any pics? An A3 upper will generally be worth a little more than an A2. Otherwise with no other info, I would say about $700-$750 minus BCG and $850-$900 with the BCG. +1 Another option is to sell just the complete preban lower to someone in a ban state, they usually sell for $600 to $700. If you do decide to sell it make sure to post good pics of both sides, the potential buyer will also want to know the serial number to confirm it is a preban. |

ive seen even preban Colt ARs sell around here for $850-900...I am in upstate NY Yep - I had an unfired pre-ban Colt that I was trying to sell about 3 years ago. I had it listed for months, and finally sold it to someone in NY State for $1000. If I'd only waited a year longer, I could have sold it for double that, just after the presidential election when everyone went nuts. |

Damn, the market for AR's must be flooded. I sold my 20" pre-ban Match Target in 1999 for $1500 literally 2 minutes after walkin in the door of the gun show. I had bought it in '97 for $899.
Guess there needs to be a more realistic threat of a ban before prices go back up. |
