Hello,

I recently acquired a Golani sporter from CAI (fortunately, one of the good ones with no problems... yet) and am having a heck of a time getting the iron sights adjusted to the point of impact.

The rifle is shooting about 2.5 inches right of center from 25 yards, and I cannot get the sight to go any further to the right (thus moving the point of impact left) in its dovetail mounting. Physically, the design of the two locking/adjustment screws will not allow me to move the sight any further right, and therefore prevents me from zeroing the rifle. The shots are close (less than .5 inch) and very consistent at 25 yards, which leads me to believe the barrel isn't bent (then again, my knowledge of firearms doesn't progress far from the theoretical, so I may have this one wrong).

As it is, the sight is as far right in the dovetail mount as it will go and is very off center from the barrel. Surely, the front sight should be more centered in the dovetail mount. If I understand right, the rear sight on the Golani is only adjustable for elevation, so I don't know what else to do.

Is this a problem frequently encountered by Golani owners (so far, this is one problem I've read nothing about concerning the Golani), or am I just a complete idiot without a clue as to what he is doing? The Golani manual mentions nothing about sighting the rifle in, and an online manual of the Galil only gives a very short description of what to do.

I would appreciate any responses.

CAI enough said.....seems to me like your already having issues.  Sorry I cant help out more, only advice I can give is stay clear of their shit.  Most not all but most of the products they put out is assembled by monkeys and is garbage.  I really do hope it does work out for you though.

I wouldn't rule out the bent barrel. Doesn't take much to throw it off.

If I am not mistaken shouldn't the rear sight be moved in the direction you want the hits to move?

If you want the bullets to go left on the target the rear sight should be moved to the left. By moving the rear sight to the right you are only moving the point of impact more to the right.

On the rear sight, yes, but the front sight is opposite. On the Galil/Golani, the rear sight is only adjustable for elevation.

Also the frontsight base could be installed in less than vertical position. Small error in building the rifle is enough to make you run out of adjustment.
