So I pickup up a '69 manfu model 94.  Cleaned it up and its real nice except I have one problem and want to see if anyone might have a good solution.  It has to do with the safety that must be engage by the lever in order to be able to fie.  I am speaking about the one where if the lever is not closed all the way (i.e. bolt is not locked) the trigger can not be pulled.  The problem I have is that if you cock the gun, it will engage.  If you happen to squeeze the lever to the stock thereby disengageing the safety, but then stop squeezing, the safety stays disengaged and you can still fire the gun.  Seems to me that the spring that operates the safety does not have enough force to push the lever "back up".  I tried bending it, but that did not fix it.  Anyone have any ideas?

Actually it was oiled like crazy when I got it and the problem already existed.  I completely disassembled it, cleaned it, and took care of the action parts with CLP.  Same problem.  Action is very smooth.  Do you mean a specific place for the oil?

Lucky day for you!!!!

I am ALSO working on an M94 from the same time frame.  Mine is a 1973.  This is how the leaf setup should be for the lever/tang safety.

Now, if it is hanging up despite the increased bend you have added, then there is either something wrong with assembly....OR there is a bend, ding or burr someplace.

You'll need some good fine stones and some Swiss files.  Clean all of the edges, feel for anything like stamping burrs, dings or even something bent.  Clean up as necessary.  This is a very straigftforward system so you should be able to figure it out.

Let me know if you have any questions.

...and good luck!!!

These are really fun to work on!!!
