Thinking of getting a spotting scope. Went to the range to zero my AR, but did not have a spotting scope, nor could I find anyone that would lend me one.
Had to wait till the cease fire, only to see that my shots were to the right. Adjusted, but shots still to the right a bit. Is this cheap one worth my money? http://big5sportinggoods.shoplocal.com/big5/default.aspx?action=detail&storeid=2503823&rapid=0&listingid=-2087682514&offerid= Will be looking out to 100 yards. We have 20 minute firing sessions, so it is annoying waiting 15 or so minutes to check and see how you did.

Reason #269 why I do not like public shooting ranges!!! I feel sorry for the folks that have to use them! I just fire off a group and then hop on the 4 wheeler and ride to my targets. This is really nice when I am shooting 300+ yards. Maybe some day I will buy a scope. I did buy one once but gave it to my brother who has no choice but to use public ranges. I believe it was a Winchester................ |

Hit your local walmart to see if they have the 20-60x60(?) simmons spotting scope. Good bag for your buck, I read around through the forums and that's what I came up with.
seeing 7.62 holes in std (non-shoot'n'see) targets at 100yds just fine. I dont think 5.56 would be much more difficult on a clear day. The bipod is kinda weak, but works for what it is. I think it is $59 (then you have the w/m return policy) -RF |

They've been selling that exact model at the gunshows around here. Junk. I seriously doubt you'll see 223 holes at 100 yards. In glass you almost always get what you pay for. This is the one I have. When I got it the price was a lot less. I think I paid right around $200. http://www.opticsplanet.net/konus-konuspot-20-60x100-spotting-scope.html |

.22 holes at 100 yards are not that difficult to pick up. If they are, use some shoot and see targets. Buy them in 100 packs from Midway rather than your local gunstore.
The best inexpensive scope I've looked through is a Nikon. Ebay is your friend for used Nikon spotters. I agree, you get what you pay for in glass. However, working at 100 yards doesn't take good glass. |
