| I don't know alot about these but a freind is selling his. It has a tactical stock, and the finish is pretty worn of basically bare steal, maybe their sopossed to be that way I dont know it shoots well as far as I could tell it would fire two rounds back to back every now and then, he said they do that when they get hot once again I don't know. I figure for 180 bucks this is probly an o.k. deal. |

I figure for 180 bucks this is probly an o.k. deal. They are dependable firearms. They are supposed to be parkerized or blued, not bare metal. The tactical style stocks are usually of poor quality and allow the action to move around too much, generating poor accuracy. The burst firing is a slam fire, that's usually caused by a dirty firing ping. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION. The rifle should not be used until the slam firing is stopped. A slam fire can potential cause a cartridge case to rupture, which will have a number of very unpleasant effects for the shooter. Normally, cleaning the firing pin will solve this issue. For $180 is a very good deal. If I were the buyer, and assuming the barrel is in good condition, I'd buy it, clean it thoroughly, and find an original wood stock for it. |

If his rifle is slam firing with MILSPEC primers, then there is a problem with a dirty firing pin. Probably some hardened cosmoline in there.
If his rifle is slam firing with standard primers, that happens every now and then due to the free floating firing pin. Thoroughly cleaning the chamber and firing pin area inside the bolt should help. A dirty gun is much more likely to slam fire than one that is well maintained. They do sell aftermarket firing pin assemblies that include springs that alleviate this problem. I have a Chinese SKS and a YUGO SKS and they are both a lot of fun to shoot. |
