Hi guys.  Perhaps you guys can help me out a little.  I'm looking into buying an Encore rifle for hunting.  It will probably be in 308 Win.  I have two questions before I try to make a decision though.

1.  What is the weight difference between the hardwood stock and the synthetic stock?

2.  Which (if any) would be more accurate?  Blued barrel or stainless?

Thanks.

The weight difference will be very, very marginal.

The accuracy from each should be identical.

Any particular reason you want to go with an Encore?

I have my share of semi and bolt rifles for range use and hunting.  I just thought I'd go with a single shot this time.  With the Encore, I figure I can switch out barrels should I need to for different game.

You sound like me!  I have hunted for several years with AR's in .223 and 6.8.  Took my share of deer.  After a while I just got to the point that I had to ask, why am I using a semi-auto for hunting?  I only, ever, take a shot when I am sure that one shot would do the job.

(I'm NOT saying there is anything wrong with hunting with and AR or any other semi-auto.)

I built an Encore with synthetic stock, blue steel frame, and a 22" 7mm-08 stainless barrel with Cerakote matte black finish, wears a Burris Signature 3.5-12x50 scope.  It's 36" in OAL.  For me it's perfect.  And I never have to think about a magazine.
