When did the Benelli MR1 show up?

What's the hive think of this unique new entrant into the 'AR' world?

Any reviews?

Seriously. I don't know how I missed it, I've been looking at shotguns for a couple of months and on the FN/Beretta/Benelli sites a lot...

How many months behind am I on this one?

Im pretty sure he meant seriously? This is the AR-15 Discussion Forum, theres a section for Shotguns.

Well it's not a shotgun either ...so it should be in the general firearms discussion in the Armory.

There have been several threads on it under the general firearms section...

This really isn't the right place for it since it isn't an AR; it has very different operation.

Now were in the right spot.  I looked at one at the Market Hall Gunshow in Dallas a month or so ago.  I didn't care for the feel, the design or the price.

I'd much rather have a top shelf AR.

Its actaully been around awhile now. The design is actaully Beretta. Beretta made it as the Rx4 which was the rifle format of the Storm series. However Beretta did not want to export it for reasons of what ever nature they be. They sold the design or at least manufacturing and export rights to Benelli who is now making it as the MR1. I have the Cx4 and if this rifle is of the same quality I would buy one.

I saw one the other day at a local gun shop. There's nothing really spectacular about it. I'd only recommend it to someone who wants something like a CX4 in a .223 chambering.

I think its an abomination.

Will SOMEONE in the firearms world come up with something truly "new", and different? Different caliber, new action..., something???

This^...is what I was thinking when I saw the Benelli. I knew Beretta had worked on getting an RX4 into the country and gave up upon BATFE approvals or whatever. Many of us saw it as a compliment to our CX4/PX4 combinations, albeit in .223. My sons were really dissappointed when they didn't ship.

Now, the Benelli comes out looking so much like a CX4 (a great little 9mm carbine) and, although there isn't much use for it, its another gun in the safe that's cool/different. I have everything from HK's to Kel-Tec's in there...why not a fairly rare .223 from Benelli?

Thanks for links...

This IS the RX4 that Beretta couldn't get past BATFE w/out making the now seen changes...

Too bad as the Italians make some killer firearms.

Got a CX4 for my sons and they freakin love it.
