I'm planning a "novel" to write for National Novel Writing Month starting in just a few days. It'll be centered around a couple of soldiers on a fictional world and there's going to be a lot of guns, of course. So basically, my question is, HK53 or MP5? What are the drawbacks of firing 5.56mm in such a small weapon? In a warzone, is there any reason to use the MP5 over the HK53? This is probably more a GD question, but I thought I would get a more technically-minded response here. |

HK 53.
Because if your novel is ever made into a movie a 53 would be fun to see on the big screen vs the run of the mill MP5. Remember the counter sniper in Clear and Present Danger he carried a .308 bolt gun and a suppressed MP5. Also suppressed HK UMP 45 would be kind of cool. |

Quoted: I've heard of US sniper teams packing an M231 as a Break contact weapon. Otherwise I'd say HK53. really ––- i have not heard of or seen any teams (deployed in theater or prepping to go) that carry the M231. –– i have seen and worked with numerous teams that have M4's, and one with an M4/203 combo but no M231's. |

Quoted: As long as you're being creative, maybe you should consider some other options. The MP5 is a good weapon, but a little old hat. How about an FN P90, or one of Knight's new PDW's? Or if you want ammo compatibilty with your character's sniper rifle, how about one of these? http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj105/strela_photos/51K-2.jpg great scotts |
