I was shooting my Mossberg 88 which was brand new in March. Shot it for the first time about one month ago putting about 100 shells through it. Took it out again yesterday and shot it some more without having cleaned it from the first time (I do know better...am prior military...won't make the same mistake again).
Anyway, after about 10 shots, the slide became difficult to operate after firing. With more than the normal amount of force, the shell could be ejected, but clearly it was binding up. Upon taking it apart, it looked like the bolt gouged or nicked the top of the receiver and the bolt seems to be getting slightly stuck. I'm thinking I can file it down...but am wondering about the underlying cause. Would my negligence in cleaning have caused this...or is there perhaps something wrong with this gun?? I don't have a lot of experience with shotguns. |
