Visited my grandfather and came across a Remington Model 600 chambered in .243. Was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this rifle and can give me an approximate value? Looks like a carbine bolt action rifle? Thanks.

I would buy it if the price was reason able. The 600 series Remington carbines are great little hunting guns.

Long out of production, rarely seen for sale. Some serious hunters seek these out, and Remington collectors look for them too.

They were popular enough, that Remington brought out the Model 7 carbine to take it's place.

What I am confused about is the Caliber. According to the Remington website, only the 600 Mohawk was chambered in .243 WIN. This rifle is not a Mohawk. It has the Vented Rib on the top. Were these made in .243?

yep, the Mohawk was the economy line version of the 600.

600s were produced in:
222 Rem
223 Rem, very rare
243 win
6mm Rem ( 244 Rem)
308 win
35 Rem, rare but not as rare as a 223

600 Magnums, had laminated stocks and were produced in:
350 Rem Mag
6.5 MM Rem Mag

I've got the Remington 660 that I bought new in 1968. Paid $109.00 for it new. Hopped a train in Iowa and my uncle picked me up at Union Station in Denver, and went deer hunting for the first time. I was 15.
Its a great rifle. I'd by it if you can. Mine is in .308
