Hello I just got one of the great new Ruger Mini 14's. I have the stainless version of the new gun. I must say that it is a great improvment from the old Mini Ranch rifle!
My question is in regard to break in. I have read that you need to just take the rifle out and shoot it and some say to do a break in process. Some say to fire lap. I am wondering what you guys think? I do have a full set of the David Tubb Final Finish System that I got for my M700 and have not used yet. It is the 40 round set. I was wondering if would hurt or be benificial to use these? Well any suggestions would be great. |
| I don't think breaking in a barrel matters in the long run. In the short run, frequent cleaning will make it easier to keep clean for the first 100 rounds or so. New barrels have machining marks where the rifling is cut. Until these are worn in, they tend to attract fouling. |
