Previously in my young life I drove to the rockies to work In the gun industry, However I am going back almost four years later to visit friends, ride my enduro, be young for the last time etc. I have graduated and am soon to go into federal law enforcement but first I need to clear my head and have a little fun before locking back down. working two jobs and going to school is not fun....but heres the question what firearms should I take with me? Im going to be leaving my truck in a safe place where I will be spending a lot of my time, but will be on a minimalist trips on the enduro camping for days at a time. in my young age I have managed a large collection of firearms, however I want to narrow it down to 3 pistols 1 rifle, and one shotgun (long guns not going on the bike). So far I have decided on ruger SA 44 mag, S&W J frame, glock 35, Marlin 336, and remington 870......BTW I dont feel comfortable traveling with FN FAL's ARs etc ie why theyre not on the list. what would you recomend

It would be helpful to know which state you are going to.

In California:

ruger SA 44 mag, S&W J frame, , Marlin 336, and remington 870
These should be OK as long as the 870 has no 'evil features:' pistol grip, shoulder thing, etc.

glock 35
The Glock may be a little iffy. I know that if you are moving there, you must register ALL your guns to be perfectly legal. And oh yeah, if you have anything that has a mag holding more than 10 rounds, you will be a felon. Good-bye federal LE job.

FN FAL's ARs
Fagadditabaddit. If they aren't on the Calif. 'OK to own" list then you are screwed.

ETA Now, if by 'coming West' you mean New Mexico, bring' em all. We love guns here. In fact we'll give you a brand-new FAL just for crossing the border.

(Just kidding about the FAL. But we are very relaxed about guns.)

First of all, congrats on your new career in federal LE!  Now, tighten up that punctuation, capitalization, and grammar before you give all of us a bad name...

Second, why would you not "feel comfortable traveling with FN FAL's ARs etc?" [sic] I'm not sure what agency hired you, but you had better get used to travelling with all sorts of hardware in your vehicle!!!  Really, I just don't understand why you are comfortable travelling with 3x handguns, 1x rifle, and 1x shotgun... but not comfortable with one more rifle?

Good luck and enjoy your trip!
