What are some other sites like www.gunsamerica.com where you can see listings from all over the place? |
|
Hey - I've been working on a site that works as a gun forum search engine for classified listings.
Still looking for feedback on how to improve it, but give it a try: www.riverofguns.com - chuckr |

Chuckr I like it.... one stop shop. I can't really make any suggestions. Seems to work pretty well. It only searches forums though, right? Not gun shops or GunsAmerica or any sites like that? That would be cool. And if it had local gun shops that have online listings then be able to search by state. Does it work through some sort of search or are you manually putting all of these sales in there yourself. |

Yep, it's mainly a gun forum search engine at the moment. The forums I'm covering are:
ROG forums You're right though - I should be getting data from the auction sites. The ones I have are: www.auctionarms.com www.gunsamerica.com www.gunbroker.com Heck, even eBay still has some deals on gun stuff if you know how to search just right. Let me know if you find any others. It's going to take a while for me to add those though. It might get tricky on the technical side if they don't have an exposed API. Local gunshops is a good idea - but they typically don't have the most up to date product listings and usually have a weak web presence. You can actually get some results with what I have now if you just stick "NJ" in your search. It's a little broad, but here's everything tagged with NJ at riverofguns: http://riverofguns.com/cb/index.pl?s=NJ >> Does it work through some sort of search or are you manually putting all of these sales in there yourself. Well, I have 85,000 entries in the database after 3 months, so yeah, it's a pretty automated deal. I'm mainly working on getting more forums active. You can see from my list I have a ways to go. - chuckr |
