Just got back from a Fun Show and am in shock. Not a month ago I went and was amazed at the jump in prices of semis and ammo. Today was a lesson in "OH MY GOD". Gouging is an understatement. A dollar a round for .223?! AR's for more than a grand and a half!! WASR's for $800. Amazingly, pistols were almost at the pre-Obama mark. Ammo was scarce and expensive. Lots of traffic and booths, but in speaking with some vendors, people were holding onto their cash... I would too at those prices. I'll do all my shopping online. Even with the price increases noted online, it ain't nuthin like the raping goin on here.
I am so happy for my ammo and mag reserve, and for the weapons acquired so far. Kinda reminds me of a comedy routine I heard once about a family of herbal farmers, whose crop was discovered by the Feds. "They cut and they burned and they burned and they cut, then they drove away. We just smiled... sittin there on a sack a seeds." I'm smiling, with my feet propped up on ammo cans. I'll build what is in queue, and enjoy the fruits of my labor and early harvest. buckmeister note: the above does not condone nor encourage the use of illicit products. |

yea i actually really pissed off this vendor at the my local gun show. when i asked how much for a nice romanian G, he told me $850, and then i immediately offered him $300 cash. wow, he exploded, and it was hilarious. i then offered $400 for a Federal ordinance 1911 he had marked at $650. again, very angry, but i told him he was insane, and what was funnier is his son was with him and at every offer he screamed "NOOOO! NOOOO!". i think everyone has reverted to behaving like this little kid, when you give them a reality check, they go into denail, followed by anger. then once they dont sell anything, depression, followed by acceptance of their absurd price gouging, and will welcome any sort of business he can get, which will be none.
whatever, i had fun harrassing all these price gougers while their tables stayed fully stocked and undisturbed. the only table with constant traffic was the reloading company, selling reloads at last years factory prices, and selling out fast. went to get some .45acp, and the guy in front of me buys 2000 rounds, leaves only a couple hundred left, of which i claimed immediately after. if no new legislation occurs like everyone fears, prices will crash, to lower than what they were years ago. classic buy the rumor sell the news. everything is fueled by peoples unknown perceptions of future events, and if those events dont occur, expect a HUGE correction in the price of ammo and semi-auto rifles. all i know is i have made my money in this market, and now im straight chillin' with my cash money and several thousand rounds of .22lr! |

I've said it once and I'll say it again - no worries about the gun show loophole being closed by the new government. Gun show dealers are going to close down gun shows all by themselves with their ridiculous prices. I often see "support your local gun show" posts on here and other forums but I'm afraid I'm not into standing at tables three people deep to pay way over the odds (even in today's inflated market) for guns / accessories on top of paying an admission fee for the privilege of doing so. |

These same issues rose during the Klinton era as well. We & gun shows survived then & we'll survive now too, IMO.
Personally, if I see an outrageous price on something, *I* won't bother with a lowball counteroffer. I know they're not going to take it & rather than piss the dealer off, I may need him/her down the road sometime. Just a thought.

There is no "gun show loophole" dealers at gunshows must conduct a background check and fill out a 4473 like any other dealer. That's just a term the gun-grabbers use to influence the public. When they say "close the gunshow loophole" they mean banning sales between private citizens. I do agree with you that they are losing business for themselves. I used to go to every one, now I havent been to a gunshow in almost a year. |

I used to go to every one, now I havent been to a gunshow in almost a year. no the gunshow loop hole was more about the ease of selling a handgun. even though the private sale law already exists and you only need a florida driver's license and be 18 or older to purchase, it got the media's attention at gunshows the most. also, dealers were taking advantage and using the private sale law to sell to people easier and quicker than having to phone it in. there were also cases of FFL's selling to people in the parking lots of the gunshows, once again taking advantage of the private sale law. only problem was that an FFL cannot do that. Private sale law is just that, between two PRIVATE individuals, not a private individual and a licensed FFL holder. technically, the gun you would be getting from the dealer was purchased by the FFL, not the indicividaul personally, so when he personally sells it to you without calling it in, that is illegal. he would have to transfer the gun into his own private name to use the private sale law legally. also im pretty sure going back after the fact and transfering the gun to himself after selling it to a private individual is also illegal. long story short the police found out and made undercover investigations and video tapes and exposed these crooked FFL dealers (im speaking specifically about the Orlando gun show in this instance) and since then, more and more counties have been passing county ordinances saying that the private sale law basically doesnt apply at a gun show even if the person is engaged in a private transaction. you now must have a handgun purchase, private or not, go through an FFL for a background check. but they did make it so people who have their concealed weapons permit can still buy handguns without a background check at gunshows, like it used to be for everyone. i remember going to the west palm gun show not knowing this was in place, and there were signs everywhere about it. since then, orange county has also passed a similar ordinance, and it was in place this weekend at the orlando gun show. funny though that i was offered a federal ordinance 1911 "out-the-door" via private sale from a private vendor at the show. obvisouly it comes down to the person selling, bc that guy didnt seem to care about the ordinance in place, and i was actually surprised he didnt even bring it up. i think its a dumb ordinance since i should be able to buy any firearm from any private florida resident, whether or not im at a gun show. |
| I saw $600 WASRs and .223 at $0.90 per round this weekend. Carcanos starting at $200, Mosins starting at $140.Bachman Pawn and Guns consistently sell at good prices (think CDNN's published prices) and had an hour wait to process paperwork. Everyone else had lookey lous and no sales, and I was glad to see it. |

I went into my local gun store this weekend just to check if they had anything interesting. It had been about 2 months since I had been there
and I laughed at their prices. Mosin 91/30 $180 Century 91/30 Sniper $600 RPK $1300 Rom Wasr 10 $750 Yugo SKS $450 Brown Bear/Wolf .223 $9.99/20 rounds I could not believe it. Especially the Mosins. It is shameful. |

At a local show a few weeks ago things were just as crazy.
Bare bones Bushmaster's were SELLING for $1500 and when those were gone the over priced ones were SELLING for $1750. The Bushmasters with a quad rail and upgraded stock were SELLING for $2000. I even seen some Bushmaster custom shop guns for sale at $3000 and $3750, not sure if they sold but there was some minor interest in them. Not really sure what was going on but I heard at least a dozen people asking specifically for Tec 9's. Anybody that walked up with one sold it immediately. I did over hear one person turn down $750 for one, then made a deal after that and sold it, not sure of selling price though. SKS's were selling like mad, most were selling in the $350-$400 range. I saw one marked as a "rare" SKS sniper rifle. It had a dragonov type stock and a NcStar scope with a dealer asking $900 Next lap around and it was sold. The only ammo at the show for .223 was the Remington green box that sells at WM for $9.44, they were priced at $20 a box and selling. Anything Glock was overpriced except a dealer who was selling turn ins for $329. I did see a Tantal variant selling for $650 from a dealer. Deals were to be had buying anything not related to semi autos. Bolt guns were cheap from individuals. Had a chance to buy a custom 700 in .308 with 7 rounds down the tube for $1300. It had a McMillain stock as well as a 10 twist AMU contour Douglas barrel. Reciever was cut for stripper clips. Lever guns were going cheap as well I was offered a scoped Marlin 30-30 for $150 because the guy was looking to buy magazinesfor his AK. I was able to buy some reloading supplies for the same price as pre Obama pricing. The dealer was out of primers but other than that he had everything you could want. You could tell there was a "frenzy" about buying guns that had the potential to be banned. There were people acting like they were at an auction by bidding against each other to buy what sellers had for sale. Dolomite |

I hit one of the smaller local gun shows. Century Arms WSAR 10 AKs were priced at $850.00 and selling. Olympic Arms GI-16s were going for $1,200.00. Every single on them them sold. Ammo sold out, reloading supplies sold out, magazines were overpriced, etc....
But you know what..... people were paying and didn't give a damn. Folks like you and I that have stocked up on before the elections and the "Great Panic" are looking down at the dealers and vendors. Some of it is their faults. But also remember that wholesale dealers have risen their prices and thus they're also cashing in the greed. Also some of the manufacturers have done the same..... but still. People are buying. The people that are buying are also the folks that laughed at us and said we were nuts. These are the people that said that AR-15s and AK Series Rifles have no use what so ever. But now they are buying them faster then they can be made. |
| I stopped going to gun shows all together. Pay for parking, pay for admission, look at the junk that dealers have on the tables at prices that I'm unwilling to pay. I don't expect a vendor to not charge what the market will bear but I've decided to sit this one out and be happy with the collection that I already have. I shop at local gun shops to keep the owners in business the best that I can. |

We used to have several good shows around here every year. I wouldnt miss a show if I could help it.
Then one of the promoters "banned" outside trading, and the price to get in the door went up. Nowadays the shows are crap. No real dealers, half the place is empty. Factor in all the dumb az@'s, and rapist dealers. Well, Its just a shame. Part of what I really enjoyed gone to sh*t. I've been to National gun day up in Lousville KY a few times, but not recently, and enjoyed that. I see gwinett GA is haveing a couple of 2k table shows a year now. I've been to that show a bunch of times in the past and it was a good one. I'm planning on heading that way end of April to check it out again. No local shows worth the money anymore. Damn shame. The promoters and dealers have hurt the shows here. |
