Went to a gun show today, first one in over a year. I sold a stripped lower for $150 then found out they were selling for $250+ inside.
Saw my first bone stock SKS sell for $275, nothing special. Every AR was $1K+ regardless of options or condition. One guy was selling a SP1 for $2k and it wasn't in that great of condition. AK's are selling for $750+, even the Wasr's. Should have bought the $300 TC Contender in .22LR but I'm not in the market for one. Kid was trying to get enough to get a AK or AR. Cheapest 7.62x39 was $15 for 40 round boxes. Varget was selling for $160 for 8 lbs and $24 for 5 lbs because it is evidentally now in short supply. I did find 124 gr 9mm FMJ for $43 for 500 amd $48 for JHP in the same weight. I plan on going back tomorrow to try to sell a 1911 to fund the purchase of a Glock 17 and more reloading supplies. It is in OK shape but not in nib condition. Does not have a spike bayo.
If I had 800$ I would buy it. I already ran 1500$ up on a CC over gun stuff in the past couple of months. Paying it off with my income tax. I am going to try to keep from doing that again lol. |

hope its a low end 1911 It is a custom gun built on a Norinco. Coated with all the nice goodies inside. It's my carry gun. Shoots great, the only interest I had was from guy who worked for a dealer who was looking for one. He was able to get a Taurus 1911 for cost so he went that route, which I don't blame him. Started asking $450 because I was ahead on a few deals. Dropped to $425 then to $400. No one was selling 1911's yesterday. Quoted:
The real panic buying hasn't even started yet. Wait until the commies get a gun ban bill out of committee. Then you're going to see $2000 AKs and $3000 ARs. Local shop sell lowers resonable to me. I plan on buying a lot starting next month when they get their next shipment in. Going to try to get at least 10 in the next 3 months. On the White House wesite under urban policy they say "They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent." Hopefully not but they did sneak the 1994 ban in on us. This one won't be as sneaky because they have the support. Dolomite |

Gun shows are rip offs. Waste of time anymore if you have the ability to purchase items online. You're just not good at picking your battles. You can't go in there, knowing exactly what you will buy, and nothing else. You have to go in, and look for deals. Whne you find a deal, decide if you want it. Search for deals, not what you want. |

This. A lot of people at Gunshows don't utilize the internet and don't know how cheap we can get stuff and ask outrageous prices. On the other hand, a lot of people who also don't use the internet have stuff and have no idea what it's worth and you can basically get away with theft. The best way to do it is go in with some cash and/or some guns or accessories you're willing to trade and look for deals and do a lot of haggling. I never pay what's listed on the tag unless it's already obscenely low. |

The only deals to be had at gunshows is before you enter the doors. People standing in line haven't had a chance to see how overpriced guns are by dealers. Around here oce people see what dealers are cherging they try to get new gun prices for used guns.
Had a dealer, who was out of small rifle primers, say that if he had some he would be charging $20/100. Said you can't get them nationwide. I asked the same dealer about 9mm dies and again they are sold out nationwide but would order me a set of Lee's for $100 but I would have to wait a few months for delivery. I went to W-M and bought a RCBS set for $41. Same dealer had some questionable scopes. He said they were Nightforce but they didn't have anything on them saying they were. They didn't have the Nightforce symbol on the turrets/ caps or the name on them anywhere. I've held and looked through a few Nightforce scopes in the past year and something just didn't seem right about these. I didn't even ask price becuse I didn't think they were real Nightforce. Overheard another dealer trying to sell a Russian SKS for over $200. He was telling the prospective buyer that Russian SKS's are the best because the ammo is more lethal in them because the Russian's designed the round. He went on to say if you fired 7.62.39 out of other SKS's it would not have enough power to kill anything. The customer was buying the BS. Another dealer was selling 8mm Mausers for $250, I could understand if they were like new but these were beat to hell and very, very rough. No 5.56 ammo anywhere. A dealer was selling .223 Remington for $20 a box. No bras available but bullets were with prices being resonable. Saw someone who is probably pretty smart. The person walked out with 4 LARGE bags of AK mags. Probably had over 100 in all. AR mags were reasonable at $12 new and used ones starting at $6. 33 round Glock mags were $75, off brand were $50. Uzi mags were $25-$30. I did get a chance to look through some Osprey scopes, Very clear and the adjustments seem solid. Definately going to buy one to try soon. I just need to find a rifle to buy to put it on. Sorry to ramble just wanted to give as much of an update of how prices are going with the hysteria in my area. Dolomite |

To quote one of my friends when we had a gun show discussion awhile ago... If you are in the market for samarai swords, beef jerky, and louis l'amour books, then a gun show is the place for you.
In 15 years or so of going to gun shows i've bought a m6 laserlight as it wasn't any more expensive than where i was looking to buy it on the 'net and i traded my 70's 7.65mm mauser luger for a franken-luger in 9mm as the 7.65 ammo is so dang expensive. |

Gun show rules:
1) I tend to ignore most big dealers because I'm not usually looking for NIB guns. I like looking through dealer racks of used guns and search for small tables of random guns, parts etc 2) keep your head up looking for goodies coming into the show while in line outside, or just loiter. Also keep your head up while wandering around the show. 3) I mark stuff I sell up, expecting to be negotiated down. Always make a polite offer and do not 4) it never hurts to ask those with items for sale if they have anything else at home. I bought 2k of .38 and .45 ammo like that. You will be disappointed in the gunshows if : A) you walk in looking for ARs and AKs on every table for sale, priced like 2005 B) same as A, substitute ammunition C) you don't enjoy crowds or talking to gun people. D) $8 parking for a gunshow you'll spend 8 hours at is unreasonable. Hello, carpool. E) you don't bring your own snacks and are forced to buy gunshow food. Here, this guy says all of this more eloquently than I do: http://xavierthoughts.blogspot.com/2005/10/xaviers-gun-show-rules.html |

Overheard another dealer trying to sell a Russian SKS for over $200.
$200 or so for a Russian SKS would be a pretty nice deal in today's market. The last gunshow, I picked up a matching Albanian SKS still covered in cosmoline, with the importer's hang tag, for $375 OTD. Not an incredible steal, but you're not going to find the same deal on Gunbroker. |

Not an incredible steal, but you're not going to find the same deal on Gunbroker. It wasn't so much the price as telling the customer you needed a Russian SKS to fire Russian 7.62x39. According to the dealer firing other than Russian 7.62x39 out of the Russian gun resulted in a gun that did not have enough power to kill anything. Either way I guess not going to a gunshow in a few years has made everything seem overpriced to me now. Dolomite |
