| I Have an Winchester Model 94 Timber in .450 Marlin and I was wandering if someone can recomend a good scope for it. I'm not sure if you need a long eye relief scope or not since it ejects out the top. I was reading online that some of the newer models actually eject at an angle so the empty case clears a scope but I'm not sure if this model has that feature................any help would be appreciated, thanks..... |

Your Timber carbine should have an "Angle eject" receiver that is already drilled and tapped for scope mounts. There should be a rear receiver sight already mounted from the factory. You will need to remove this sight to install the rear scope mount. The front of the receiver bridge should also be tapped for the front scope mount.
Here is a pic of my Winchesters to give you an idea of the differences are between the receivers. The two on the left are the standard old style top eject 94's, followed by two "Angle Eject" 94's, and then a standard top eject 94. the "Angle Eject" 94's have the right side of the receiver relieved slightly to allow for the cartridge casings:

I put the Weaver 1-3x20 V3 Classic on my 94 (44 mag). It is a pretty small scope, not too expensive (~$150), pretty bright and clear, and seems well made (in Japan, not the 3rd world). I just use Weaver rings and bases. Ya I was thinking about going with a 2x or 3x fixed power because I thought I'd have to get a long eye releif scope but now that i know i can just mount it normally I may look into a low power variable... |
