[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Browning BAR Questions

So i was at my local fun shop today and found a used BAR in .270 for $500. Looks good, one little ding on the stock. It has iron sights, a crappy scope (I have an extra one at home), and a plastic recoil pad. I was an idiot and didn't even check to see if it's a belgium or get the serial number. I looked online and all the BAR's with iron sights have a hood over the front sight but this one doesn't.

What do you guys think? Good deal or should I pass?

Nothing wrong with that price on the rifle. I would bet it is a Belgium also. You can get a replacement front sight hood if you want it but I had to take mine off when I mounted the scope. The hood appeard in my fiield of view through the scope.

Check the headspace with a GO / NO GO gauge first.
