I think there might be a couple semi-auto clones.  But don't expect the owners to be so willing to let them go.

I am pretty sure that a few L85's or SA80's made it in, but they are NFA, and very expensive.

there are a few semi-auto's (L85?) here in the US, but they are difficult to find and VERY expensive.

i'd wager that, at this point, you'll probably be able to buy some of the lower-end transferable M16 conversions for less.

You could probably import parts kits and machine your own registered reciever before '86 yes?

Yes if parts kits were available then (they were not)

In the UK I believe you can own the L98A1 Cadet Rifle with is a straight pull SA80 (none of the gas system) . I would think these would be importable (but never seen one here)
