Is sonic crack at all dependent on velocity above the sound barrier?

What I mean is for example. will the same 55 gr 5.56 bullet make a louder sonic crack at 3100fps than it will at 1100, or is a sonic crack a sonic crack period.

The short answer is yes, the shockwave produced at higher velocities is a stronger shockwave.  Is it louder?  I guess you can answer that by comparing the crack of a .22 against that of a .223; even though the bullets are different shapes, which does affect the shockwave, the drastic difference in velocity should provide you with an answer regardless.

Suppressed supersonic .22LR doesn't sound much different to me than .223.  I'm sure there is a little difference, but probably not enough to notice.
