i went into a local gunstore (had never been in before) and talked to the guy about ordering a lower and having it shipped to their store. they said that when im ready to buy it i can call them to have their ffl faxed over to spikes tactical (group buy on 8-1). are they going to run my background? he never mentioned it, all he said was call them a day ahead of purchasing so theyll have the ffl on file.

They are doing the transfer so I would imagine they will

im just wondering if theyre going to say 'wait we havent run a background check' the day before the buy starts. and then make me wait until the background check clears before they fax it. i dont want to miss the deal

anyone ever had them fax an ffl before a background check clears?

Your dealer will do the background check (NICS) when you go there to pick up the receiver.

It only takes a couple of minutes, if that's what concerns you.

The FFL is required by federal law to do an "instant" background check when the actual transfer takes place (when he hands you the lower).   Unless you have some unusual state laws, you should have no problem.

In TX if you have a CHL they don't even make the call. I'm in and out in less than 2 minutes.
