Do any of you own or have shot the Mec Tec conversion for a Glock? I am curious about the performance and reliability.

Do you like Mec Tec over Keltec SUB 2000? What are its faults?

I had one in 10mm when they first came out. If you want to shoot something other than 9mm or 40 they're good. They get dirty quickly and have a small part that could be easily lost but they're not bad. I would buy one again if I get a Glock 20 again.

I don't understand. Is the unit in these calibers inferior by design, or is it a personal power preference?

No not at all, the MechTechSys carbine unit works fine.

I had an old one for 1911 and recently upgraded the body tube to the new design so I have a retracting stock.

When shooting it, there is a slight SPROING sound it makes due to the recoil spring design.

Mine is very accurate and in 45acp, but any caliber would be fine. I considered getting one in 9mm for my 9mm 1911.

The only drawback I can think of is the bolt doesn't lock back when the mag is empty. This is per design so no real issue so long as you know that prior to buying.

Mine is extremely reliable, accurate and fun to shoot. Especially with hicap 1911's where you get 14 rounds of 45acp.

He's probably just saying that you'd be better off getting the Kel-Tec if you were dealing with 9mm or .40 S&W.

I chose the the Kel-Tec over the Mec-Tec.  It was cheaper, and I did not have to cannibalize my pistol to use the carbine.  That way I can use my pistol and carbine simultaneously, with the same mags and ammo.  I like the folding feature of the Kel-Tec too.  When camping, I can have a long gun stuck under my truck seat or in a backpack.
