i can allow one more rifle purchase for the next year or two. i have 2 ar15 carbines to make everything simple. same mags , ammo ,  parts and commonality. i want either a 3rd ar15(20'' a2) or an m1a scout. what should i get? shooting 5-200 yds as a range gun. my 2 ar15s will be my primary go to guns for shtf

If you are really wanting something in .308 to reach out... I'd say get a bolt gun. (Even though I really want to say get an FAL)

At the same time, getting a 20" AR is a good call too, to stay standardized.

Plus, for the price of an M1A you can get a 20" A2 and pick up some spare AR parts... especailly good if you plan to keep them for the long haul.

You can get some parts kits from Bushmaster and a very good price.

M1A, everyone shooter needs a "man's gun"
The scout is nice, but I would go for full size. Then stock up on some good mags.

I own a FAL and AR. I love haveing a FAL but, at this time, I would suggest you stick to the AR platform for mag, ammo, parts commonality.

I have a ptr-91 .308, its good for about 800 yards with a decent scope. Really like it. Other than that, id go with a socom or scout.
