I'm sick of the MSAR partX stuff.  I'm sure the MSAR guys want a thread that will stay on topic.

So, If you work for TPD stay out.  If you want to talk about that other "AUG" there is a TPD thread for that.

If you have a complaint only post it if your having trouble with your rifle.  Everyone likes to see how the Customer service is handled and updates are great.  Lets keep the armchair commando BS to a minimum.

Me.

Well I have a buddy here in Ft. Brag who has an AUG.  Another who got a special addition MSAR and has all the up to date stuff on it from the factory.

I hope to get my hands on all three or four if Steyr gets on the rumored USA model for some ARF get both testing.

I'll post pics asap.

Yup, have to get that new stock with the trade-in. I like the way it protects the bolt release.  Good little tweak on MSAR's part.

1:8 Twise is defintely the way to go IMHO.

Just need more magazines right now. Any word on those black mags I saw in pictures from SHOT?

The bolt release is cool but I think the real improvement is the addition of two sling swivel mounts on the bottom of the stock.  I love them.  I was just at Midwest Gun Exchange in South Bend Indiana (one of the coolest gunshops I have ever been in, and I have been in a lot of them!!) and they have a lot of the 30 round black MSAR mags.  Give them a call, ask for Jim and please tell him I sent you.  The black mags are the coolest!!!

I think the added protection for the bolt release is an improvement, however the addition of two sling swivels on the bottom of the stock is great.  Otherwise the stocks are the same and are interchangeable.  I just got back from my favorite gun shop, Midwest Gun Exchange in South Bend Indiana, and they have a huge amount of the black 30 round MSAR mags.  Give Jim at Midwest a call and please tell him I sent you.  I only run the black 30's in my new favorite rifle.

I picked up a Limited DE STG-556 that can with a 10, 20, 30, & 42rd mag., but I have put off picking up any extra mags due to other recent purchases. Why does everyone buy the 30 over the 42rnd mag? Also how do I get the new stock?

Thanks,

Jerad

There has been a lot of bad press on the 42 round STG 556 mags. STG owners report feeding and other mag issues while using the STG 42 round mags.

Most prefer 30 round STG mags since they seem to fuction well.

The 42rd mag also seems awkward in the gun, because it is so long. They are nifty to have but the 30rd mag balances better and doesnt stick out as far.

I took a batch of 24 inch MSAR STG-556 to the range today.  The rifles are awesome!  There is a rail mount in place of the forward grip where a bipod is installed.  The trigger is amazing, not just for an AUG, but it is really a great trigger!  We shot the rifles in truly bad conditions but it is clear they are clearly accurate rifles.  There are twenty of them getting ready to ship tomorrow to distributers.  I have lots of pictures but I dont know how to post them.

Here you gou, I found these pics at  Microholics.org  it must be the pics of the 24" STGs. Who makes the bipod & rings? What kind of trigger improvements did you make?

Nice looking rifle! Are these the same ones that are priced at $3k?

No matter what "new style" 24" AUG anyone produces this one here will always be the "one" that stands alone on the top!!!

Here are the pics of the 24" MSAR.  Personally I want the AUG style 24" barrel with the comp and bipod attached to the end of the barrel.  I just love the look of the 24" AUG.

Do you know if the 24" barrels and bipods will be sold alone? I've got a special edition MSAR and would love that barrel bi-pod combination for it.

I'm sure once Microtech gets caught up with production they will be selling the 24" barrels.

The bipods are probably versa pods or something???

Yeah, but those AUGs were support weapons whereas this one is more of a designated marksman rifle.

As a side note I hear the triggers on these are really nice.

I think that's the Jagdkommando that was $3K. At least I'm hoping these aren't $3K as well or MSAR better start issuing Austrian Swimsuit Models with the rifles to get me to lay down that kind of coin.

Simple reason, MSAR no longer wishes to deal with the general public or FFL dealers. As they posted on their web site, "no more dealer or gen. public direct sales" That means all have to buy from the MSAR distributors. If spare 20" barrels are available you will have to order them through your dealer and pay the premium price!!!

Looks like MSAR has grown into a 'big company" and no longer deals with the general public!!

You can forget about the STG suppressed barrels. I asked Keith Atkins the same question a few weeks ago and he said MSAR has no plans of making them.
