Sell the 16" so you don't have to pay another SBR tax when you're buying guns again.

i'd sell whichever can be replaced the easiest in the future when your situation improves.

the ar is a little cheaper to shoot, therefore the fal may be hard to unload because of the cost and availability of ammo right now.

the ammount of accessories you have for each may also be a deciding factor. with the 100 or so mags I have for the ar, as well as all the handguards, extra extractors, trigger parts, buttstocks, and all the other little parts for the ar, i would have a storehouse of parts for a gun I dont have.

with all that said, i would personally keep the fal and ditch the ar, if nothing else, you probably have a better chance of dumping it sooner.

selling a gun is never a good thought, and good luck with your decision.

no sbr's allowed in ny anyway. the 14.5'' has a 1.5''comp bringing it to 16'' total

Ah in that case I agree with the above poster.  Keep the FAL.  I'll pretend I posted this on jobrelatedstuff or ak-47.net instead of ar-15.com, so I don't get burned at the stake for heresy.
