Thinking about taking some classes or maybe even getting a votech degree in gunsmithing. Just kicking the idea around for now, but I'm wondering if you guys know of some "known" schools or have any recommendations.

As for location, well, I'm in Minnesota but wouldn't mind moving westward, preferrably to MT or WY. (I like to flyfish an awful lot ).

Any thoughts?

I think Pine Tech is in MN, which has a gunsmithing program.  Also the Pennsylvania Gunsmithing School, and there's one in Colorado i forget the name.

Colorado School of Trades and Trinadad are both in CO.

You will be short changing your self if you do not consider Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona.

dont waste your time

use the 10 grand or whatever it costs to go there
to buy yourself a decent machine setup
lathe/mill/tooling
and a little spot to keep it in
and books

teach yourself
youll be better off in the longrun

either that or get an M.E. degree

one of the few "well known and reputable" ones in the US are in MN.  it's in Pine City and is a part of the community college there.  if you ever attended college in MN credits will transfer and save you some $ if you are looking for a degree.  Lassen community college in CA is another to add to the list aong with what the other guys mentioned above.  IIRC Brownells has a list good schools/ programs that they endorse.

Tridiad State Junior College, Trinidad, CO my choice. Graduate 1986 I don't think was a waste of my money
