I've seen rifles with 3 sling studs, two in the front and one in the rear(), what is the point of it?

That would be my guess.

2 in the front would be for bipod + sling
1 in front of the mag well is for a "Ching" or "CW" fast loop up kind of sling. Google it and you'll get an idea. Or read up on scout rifles (think Jeff Cooper).
I'm working on one now as matter of fact...

I have a Ching Sling on my hunting rifle (a Scout, built on a Ruger Ultralight .308), and it is the bee's knees.

I'm told Eric Ching has a new version, called the "Safari," that doesn't need the middle attachment, but I have not tried it.

If you see a rifle with two attachments near the front of the stock, one is for a sling, the other for a bipod.  I have that arrangement on a Savage FP10.

Thanks for the straight line about three studs, with two in the front and one in the rear.

If you are referring to the M1Garand, that forward one is for stacking rifles.
