I have a 556 (hopefully) coming this week. It seems that the only available front sight is the Samson. It seems okay, so no problem there (though healthy competition never hurt the asking price ). My first question is: Do ordinary rear BUIS for the AR-15 (LMT, ARMS #40, etc) work/align properly with the Samson? Also, does anyone know if the RRA Dominator or tactical carry handle work with the Sig556 and also the Samson? Thanks, ~Icarus |
| The arms #40 is a problem on the rails of several of us who own the 556. (don't fit without a hammer). Mine didn't fit WITH a hammer. Leupold QR rings did not fit well on mine, either. Check the height on the samson front sight to make sure it will work with your choice of rear sight. lots more on this over at SIG forum. |

Interesting, thanks. I have an ARMS #40 that I will be able to test, before buying one for my 556, but I am concerned about the Samson front sight. I'm wondering if I should wait for alternatives, or skip the iron sights altogether. I have had a couple of AR15s that wouldn't accept an ARMS without some light taps from a hammer. What did you use for an alternative BUIS? Thanks, ~Icarus |

Icarus- I've mounted both MI and Troy rear buis on my 556 with no problem. The ARMS 40 required tapping on with a nylon hammer. All 3 will line up height wise with the Samson front buis. But the problem is with the overall height, to tall IMHO, creating a poor cheekweld. Samson is working on a replacement rail with a buis incorporated and a lower front buis to match. This set will be the same height as the sights on the Sig 55x series. Both will be flip up, and the rear will be similar to a ARMS 40L. Call or e-mail Scott Samson @ Samson Mfg. for details. |
