I am looking to get a Rem. 700 SPS.  This rifle feels the best to me out of all the others I have tried, plus it's in my price range.  I want a caliber that will fly fairly flat for a long range.  I have been thinking about the .25'06 or a .300 WSM.  Recoil is not a factor.  The most I would be using it for would just be for fun or the most dangerous game MS has to offer (deer).  Any thoughts?

.243   Good for deer with a heavier bullet, and varmints (55 gr hp at 4000 fps) Flat shooting and very accurate.

I second .243, I've used it to down many a deer with only one shot. I use 100 grain Remington Core Lokts. And as also mentioned before, it's very very accurate.
