My local gunshop has a used, unfired UZI for sale and it is marked on the tag as being a Vector. But the receiver is marked IMI Action Arms Import, .45 ACP. There are no Vector marks i can find, it doesnt take grease gun mags like the .45 Vector advertises now, and it has a 25 round mag, which i cannot find any 25 round .45 mags online. So my question would be this, is it a Vector? and how can i find out?

Vector does use IMI receivers when they can get them. If it holds 25 rounds it sounds more like a 9mm than a .45 ACP. I`ve never heard of any 25 round mags in .45 ACP, except the Grease gun mag conversions. Are you sure it is in .45?

Vector marks its receivers on the side of gun and uses a gray parked finish. If it is black paint and marked IMI and no vector markings on the side, then i would have to say it is probably just an IMI gun and not a vector. IMI guns are better of course. And are you sure the gun is actually chambered for 45acp? Because lots of UZI's are marked 45 but could have been converted to 9mm. The magazine is probably a 9mm 25rd mag, pretty standard for the UZI. The 45 caliber magazines are single stacked and only hold 16 rounds. Also I'm assuming you are talking about a full size UZI and not the Mini or Pistol.

My vector says .45 ACP on the side of the frame, but it is most definitely 9mm.

I believe Vector still uses the leftover stamped flats of the Action Arms guns for building up their semis.  Both the .45 and the 9mm use the same receiver, so what is stamped on teh side of the gun is more or less meangingless.

99% sure it is a 9mm gun.  Of course, you coudl ask the dealer just to make sure.

My Vector Uzi is built on an IMI frame, and is marked .45, 9mm, and .22lr.  The Vector markings are located mid-way up the frame, and the IMI markings are located on the rear, left corner of the frame.  There has been cases of Vector IMI Uzi's that were not marked with Vector.  IIRC, Vector is out of the IMI recievers.
Sounds like a 9mm gun, with the standard 25 rd. 9mm magazine.
However, it could be an original IMI Action Arms import .45 ACP Uzi, with a 16 rd. magazine, I'm pretty sure the .45 mag is close in dimensions to the 25 rd. 9mm mag.  Be careful, the original 16 rd. .45 mags are worth a whole lot more than the 25 rd. 9mm magazine.

Sounds like what i suspected, the barrel did not look like a .45, and the whole 25 rd mag has been bugging me.  the guys at the gunstore swear its a .45, but they arent the ones who took it in originally.  I was excited it was an IMI for the price of a Vector. So IMI doesnt park the guns?
thanks for the info.

Come to think of it, my IMI is an NHM import out of Sacremento, CA.  If it says Action Arms on it, it may have different origins?  I think the Action Arms guns were painted black, the Vectors are parked.

Go to www.UZITalk.com and check out the UZI library. It will tell you everything you need to know. Sounds like a 9mm Action Arms model, best way to find out would be to have the shop load the mag and see what fits...45 or 9mm.

Thanks,
James

well, i went for the 3rd time to check it out and determine if it really was a .45, the same guys still swore by it, but this time when i pulled the barrel out i made a bet, and i won a free box of ammo! too bad tho, i thought i found a gem, surprised vector did not mark or alter the receiver.

If Vector manufactured the Uzi, their Name, City and State will be engraved.
