I am JONEZIN for another bullpup AUG stye rifle, so instead of waiting for one of the clones to start appearing (whenever that will happen), I'm looking at the Steyr USR (Augs are not allowed in my state).

If I get one, is there a way to change the scope out to a rail?  Can you just change the upper receiver part? Or is the scope just bolted to it somehow?

Thanks.

The scope on the USR is detachable.   It can be replaced with the A2 rail.

that's the only reason to buy a USR in my opinion. Flat top AUG. I love my AUG kinda wish it was a flat top sometimes.

FWIW, supposedly repeatedly switching out the rail and the factory scope will wear out the interface on the receiver.

Not an issue for me as I have no intention of ever using the factory scope.

The price of USRs is starting to come down, you may want to wait a little while before buying one. They are already about $200-300 cheaper NIB now than when I bought mine last June.

My condolences on the state of residency. The only thing I dislike on my USR is no barrel release (quick fix) and, yup, here comes a bit of mall ninja, the stock color. A little ryt dye and a quick call to PJS made the PC little guy as near to perfect as possible without a registered sear.

Why did you want the  barrel release? Do you have pics of your usr after tha paintjob?
