1. Civvie version of the Scar L and Scar H will be announced for 2008. 2. Block with a manual safety shown publicly. 3. Beretta will show the RX4, people will think it looks like crap. 4. There will be a shit load of of AR15 type weapons and plastic frame pistols. 5. Eotech will show more about the nifty new 557 magnified optic. 6. My eternal favorite, HK, will show off the P30 and HK45/HK45c. 7. Sig will show off more versions of the 556. People will continue to whine like bitches. 8. Taurus will have some new stuff. No one will care. 9. S&W, see #8. 10. I'm going to get drunk and watch the commentary from online. 11. Robarm will announce the dateline for new XCR addons. Two weeks. ![]() 12. Everything will be Flat Dark Earth, cuz it's the new black. |
2007 = The Year of the Imports? FN has blazed a path that SIG and soon other foreign companies will follow. Look for announcements on the FN SCAR L and H. HK is going to do something...whether that is a new gen. civi version of the SL8 or the 416 will be the big question. Also look for Steyr Arms to say something about whether they'll attempt to bring in the AUG A3 or some new version of the USR back again. Alot of rumors have been flying around for the past two years. My main concern will be looking at Pete's STG556 and seeing if it is the high quality improved Steyr AUGish type rifle we all hope it will be. |
You forgot to mention anything about Shrike availability. Also: The term "tactical" will be used as a value added device attached to more and more every day items to instantaneously triple their retail value. Someone will come out with a line of ballistic nylon underwear. All the flashlight manufacturers will com out with new lights that use the new Cree xre LED, and by the time they get to market they will already be outdated. Marlin, Savage, H&R, Rossi, and Remington will all announce their new lines of 1911's and AR's. Ruger will try again to fix the Mini14.... Armalite will show off an upgraded 180b, getting the hundreds of 180b owners all wet and gleeful in hope that their beloved gun will receive some attention from the big "A", just to get their hopes dashed as Armalite once again ignores their little bastard gun. Some asshole will figure out a way to mount a bayonet onto a NAA Guardian. Two Words...Magpul Tampons. Some asshole will show up with another exotic ammunition company promoting ammunition that can turn corners or some other such nonsense. A BATF guy will show up and announce that since most semi's can be bumpfired, they are all machineguns and are now to be turned in. Hilarity ensues, Someone will show up with something really cool that has BATF approval that will be rescinded 10 months from now. |

Can I ask you guys a question? We all love guns, why do we make so much fun of the gun culture that sustains us? And I'm not just talking about "heavy six" operators. But the entire industry. I know why I do it. It's because I have so much hate that it has to get out somehow. ![]() What about you? |
There are no sacred cows. The gun industry has its nit-wits, half-wits, rubber-meets-the-road authorities, & geniuses, just like other fields. There's stuff coming out that I've been waiting for for some time (SCAR-H, & the SA-M7SFC - man I love that AK), ideas that make me wonder why I didn't think of it myself (suppressor QD-type mounts), & still others that are brilliant (eg. MGI AR interchangable magwell lower that takes std. AR & AK mags). Then there's the stuff that makes me go , like the 6-railed AR fore-end or the AR upper w/ rails added to the side rear area, next to the charging handle; & then there's the AR stocks w/rails on them. I'm still waiting for railed-rails, for "accessorizing" (Must be a girlie-man thing) rails.

The FN SCAR L/H will be the darling of the whole show. The KAC table will be chock full of new 7.62mm ARs and will be crowded The Glock reps wil keep delaying the Glock Carbine... Again! SMG Lee will bet posting a 300+ picture post on ARFCOM (I can put money on this). The Glock Love/Hate feud will be sparked yet again (including your standard fare of Glock Kb jokes). Another gun brand will come up with yet another 1911 clone. Smith & Wesson will still not have an original design of their own. Colt will still not sell to civilians, which is good news for Sigarms, FN Herstal and H&K H&K probably will be releasing their HK416 to the civilian market, much to Colt's dismay. There will be displays showing the new SL8 and USC carbines and rifles, with foldable stocks and probably dyed black. I guess that's about it for me. |
Pete and MSAR steal the Show with their new AUG"ish" bullpup ! I really have no doubt that this gun will be the talk to the show... at least for most of us. We already know what Sigarms has... we know the SCAR should go civilian... so.... I put all my money on the STG 556 stealing the Show !!! |
I predict... ... that I will be attending for the very first time! And I will spend the whole time griping about one particular vendor, hob-nobbing with the others that I like, and looking for good value-conscous product alternatives. And collecting every freeby giveaway I can get my hands on! |
+1...thats going to be the coolest thing at SHOT this year hands down. After having followed the development of the STG 556 here at AR15.com I have to say it will be a real neat thing to see it in final form in person. |
Just a few things out of my latest Shooting Sports Retailer magazine. Colt is supposed to drop a totally new handgun. (Probably finally got the damn ring security thing to work!) Tarus has formed a new "TACTICAL" division, and will have some new high speed, low drag type guns on show. E.R. Shaw is going to produce the Winchester model 70 line. |
1. FN USA will be showing off it`s new "BLACK" line of civi rifles and the new .45 Cal pistol. 2. HK wll show off the 416 uppers, but will tell everyone that it`s MIL/LEO only! There will be the HK45 and P30 there to finger-pork. 3. 1911s will be hurled left and right from companies who have no right to be making 1911s (I`m looking at you Taurus!) 4. There will be a belt-fed .17 HMR/.17 Mach 2 pistol from someone. 5. Sig will have 556 upgrades galore and a few new versions of there already established pistols (do we need another SIG 1911 that doesn`t work right? 6. Berretta will have there Storm pistols, carbines, and rifles(still looks like a Cx4 screwed a Benelli m4 to me 7. Yet more accessories and stocks for your M4gery. 8. More 1913 rails thank you can shake a dead baby at. 9. Barrett will have the new XM 500 to finger-pork, Kalifornians will lament and plan ways to move to sane States. Just don`t bring your problems to Utah...I like not being crowded here! 10. There will be more Euro-trash high dollar shotguns than you can shake a dead French baby at. (I`d rather have a 1968-70 Plymouth Roadrunner for those prices!) 11. Springfield Armory will have the smallest 1911 ever and it will shoot the .45 GAP It will be called the EMP. 12. Glock will have new pistolas with external safetys to make people feel better. There will be two new G21s, one a slim line tactical with Pic-rail-o-plenty, and a single stack, 5 incher to compete with the 1911. 13. Knight Rifles and Knight`s Armament will team together and bring out a Tactical Muzzle-loader and a new hyper velocity sabot/conical bullet for hunting dear wearing kevlar. 14. S&W will come out with an .80 Cal 3 shot revolver with a 14" barrel. Elephants everywhere will be crying themselves to sleep. There will be more M&P stuff, but no one will care. Thats about it for me...I`m all out of funny. |
FN will be forced to release the SCAR L/H to the mass-market, in order to make up for it's failure to gain broad US .mil acceptance (the purchase has been cut to the bare minimum 600 or so rifles contracted for, and adoption is not leaving SOCOM. Another expensive wall-hanger to go with the Mk23)... RobArms will continue to come up with more products that won't be available on time, and won't sell when they are... At least 2 new ways to bastardize the AR platform will be 'debuted' and all manner of people will swoon over how said products 'fix' something on the AR that ISN'T BROKE! Glock will finally realize that their pistols need to be idiot-safe, not just drop-safe in order to sell to major military customers. Unfortunately, their lack of ergonomic consciousness will place the long-overdue safety switch in a place where it can easily be confused with the mag release... And all manner of shit will be stirred up on ARFCOM as the various camps try to prove that some product from SHOT which meets their fancy should gain US Military adoption.... |
Not only that, but the FS2000s parent rifle, the F2000 has military and police orders on the books to the tune of 70,000 rifles so that's spreading the development cost out over quite a large production run. Who knows, it may actually prove to be less expensive then the FS2000 because they will need a larger volume in the civilian market to turn a profit. I personally like the FS2k beter then the SCAR-L, but I'll likley end up with a SCAR anyways just because I've been so impressed by FN latley. |
Winchester will show up drunk and abusive as usual. Browning will be mortified, but will try to keep Winchester under wraps in the Browning booth. Winchester will escape and run amok, accusing everyone of abandonment in the hour of need. This continues until Winchester vomits on a Steyr factory rep and passes out. Remington will introduce two new shotguns. Unfortunately, no one at the Remington booth will remember the model names of the guns and will call them "like an 1100" and "sort of like an 870". Both will be released in a new camo paint scheme called "pygmy". Taurus announces they will produce the entire factory lineup of Winchester, Smith and Wesson, and Colt, but only the models found in the 1954 catalog of each maker. Gaston Glock refuses to open booth until everyone refers to him as: "The Austrian genious formerly known as Gaston Glock". He now goes by the cryptic symbol "G" surrounded by a, well, thingie. As for the carbine he admits it exists, but we are "not worthy" and the US is a "girlie nation." He goes completely beserk when he overhears one gunshop owner from Bentonville, Arkansas call a G26 "plastic". Beretta has no new firearm models, but instead sends fourteen modestly clad buxom women serving Vodka gimlets. Beretta gets top billing in all print and online magazines because of this. Marketing genious! Absolut Beretta! Smith and Wesson, due to a long simmering internal feud will separate into two distinct companies. Smith will be responsible for the automatics, while Wesson will be producing the revolver models. The Smith rep is overheard stating that "revolvers are for freakin' homos". Colt announces they will no longer sell any weapons to anyone for any reason. On Tuedays, that is. In months that end with Y. Thompson Center releases the .50BMG barrel for the "Encore". They are very smug about it, too. The factory rep admits the recoil is beyond brutal. It can be lethal, in many cases. TC admits it has a secret loathing of it's clients, merely because of the years of having to produce really stupid chamberings for the contender. "Years wasted! We could have produced really cool stuff instead of wasting time chambering contender barrels in .32 Winchester Special. Our customers are morons." |
Ruger shows up claiming it's new Mini-14 is undergoing .gov testing to replace the M16 family of weapons. Marlin continues to call its rimfire magazines "clips" and continues to take pride in the ridicule directed at them. Marlin then announces a redesign of its model 795 to prevent aftermarket "high capacity clips" from working in them. Some practical joker rewrites the floor plans to put the Sigarms and the Tapco booth right next to each other. The CMP capitalizes on WWII collecting by announcing a 100% price increase on every rifle that was built between 1941-1945. Three flintlock rifle makers announce they are adding piston-operated ARs and coyote brown 1911s to their line of Kentucky rifles. |
How about a fork? I can't imagine using a fork with a bayonet attached to it. Or how about a condom with a bayonet. That would not be good either ETA: Cheesebeast: Well Done |
This is the "Official SHOT 2007 Prediction Thread," not the "Official Make Bull Shit Claims Without Any Proof Thread." Jesus Christ, does it ever end with you? |
i always thought you made things from plastic because it made for quicker and cheaper production. then i took to firearms and found out that an AR15, which is made [primarily] of all manners of high-grade metals and alloys which are painstakingly machined to relatively precise tolerances, costs $800... but a new weapon that is made nearly *entirely* of injection molded plastic, fire control group INCLUDED, costs $1800. anyhow, my predictions: 1) another "limited edition" SIG 226 2) SIG will debut the 556 "swat" version 3) ninety-jillion pre-orders will be put in for the "all american AUG" after it's debut. |
