Hey guys. I've been seeing these 8mm MG42 kits around, and I'm curious as to what it would cost to build one (semi-auto). I'm guessing it is pretty expensive, or else we'd see more people with S/A MG42s. A buddy and I having been toying around with the idea of getting into belt-fed weapons, and it wouldn't get much cooler than an MG42. Let me know guys.......

Thanks

I am building an MG42 and a 34 right now. There are a whole bunch of people working on these now. There is a great wesite you should check out. It is a great place to hang out and ask questions. Here is the site!

Thanks for the link! If you don't mind me asking, what will it cost you to build it? Price is something I need to figure out before I even start thinking about it.

Price depends heavily on how much work you are capable of doing yourself. If you have all of the equipment, Maybe 500-800. If you don't have the equipment, then more.

The price of the kits is decent...

However, BRP seems to have a monopoly on replacement semi recievers and caliber conversions (If I were going to spend that much on a gun I'd build it in .308. 8mm will eventually dry up)...

BRP? Not sure I know what that is. As for recievers, somebody told me yesterday that they are running $800-$1000!!?? Please tell me that isn't true.....or else this project is done before it begins.

ETA: Nevermind about the BRP part, think I found their site.

The whole idea is to "build" your own. Yes BRP makes receivers, but when you do the mods and weld your own that is where the pride in making your own MG42 comes from.
