A friend of mine just called and told me that a friend of his has a Galil in .308, NIB has it at the local gun show for sale. My question is should I get the Galil? He is asking $2500. I was told it comes with some extra mags and it has the bipod.

The answer is clear!

What Would Sam Fisher Do?

I would go with the Galil..........it has more plastic...............

+1 Galil!

[#6]
You shouldn't even have to ask...........Galil
7/8/2006 9:08:50 PM EDT
[#7]
Embrace the 21st century, go with the F2K!
7/8/2006 9:27:20 PM EDT
[#8]
Galil...it's the right caliber!

$2500 for a Galil???
7/9/2006 5:37:16 AM EDT
[#10]

THe choice is obvious.
7/9/2006 6:00:35 AM EDT
[#11]
Go with the FS2000.  Galil's weight what? 2 lbs more than the FN.
7/9/2006 6:41:14 AM EDT
[#12]
Galil!!!

$2500 is a good price for a NIB .308
7/9/2006 6:59:44 AM EDT
[#13]
Get the galil while you can, I say.  F2000 just came out, there will be plenty around in later years.  Get the Galil now, F2000 later.
7/9/2006 7:07:06 AM EDT
[#14]
He still has it, $2500 is a good , average, or above average price?
7/9/2006 7:14:26 AM EDT
[#15]
Average I would say. Depends on how many mags he can let go with it. If I had $2500 to blow, I'd do it in a second. It will definitely gather a higher re-sale price over time.
7/9/2006 7:27:18 AM EDT
[#16]
It is an ARM. Trying to find out how many mags, I know he has some IMI and aftermarket.
7/9/2006 7:32:29 AM EDT
[#17]
It's heavy and built like a tank.

Get it.

7/9/2006 7:38:08 AM EDT
[#18]
He has 2 new in the box 25 rd IMI mags. One new IMI 25 rd but no box and 2 aftermarket 25 rd mags.
7/9/2006 8:14:47 AM EDT
[#19]
So, five mags and a bipod? I'd go for it man.
7/9/2006 8:18:55 AM EDT
[#20]
I'll be one to disagree, go with the FS2k.
7/9/2006 6:16:53 PM EDT
[#21]
Whip the plastic out and buy them both!....Damn the consequences!
7/9/2006 8:46:02 PM EDT
[#22]
I would go with the Galil.  They are harder to come by and should retain its value better.  The price on the FS2000 is probably overpriced right now and the price should drop eventually.
7/9/2006 11:30:48 PM EDT
[#23]
Go with the FS2000

Galil = Over-priced AK

Prohibitive favorite:

Galil

I had a .308 caliber Galil back in the late 1980s and for me, it was the best shooting .308 caliber rifle I ever had.  I am now very sorry that I traded it off.  Buy the Galil!  Make sure that the extra magazines are IMI manafacture!
7/11/2006 5:04:00 PM EDT
[#26]
What was the decision?!
7/12/2006 4:28:21 AM EDT
[#27]
The guy still has it so I haven't had to decide yet. Too be honest I am leaning towards the FS. I know I will regret it but my gun fund is empty and I want to buy something I can shoot. I really can't afford a safe queen now. If I got the Galil, I wouldn't shoot it so as to keep it's value up.
7/12/2006 8:03:01 PM EDT
[#28]
A Galli?  Come on...AK's ugly cousin?  I'd go with the FNS-2000.
7/14/2006 2:57:29 AM EDT
[#29]
If you go with the FN you should put me in touch with your friend, I'm in Iraq now but I could probably work something out.
7/14/2006 3:19:41 AM EDT
[#30]
First make sure it is an Real IMI Galil & Not some parts kit built on a US receiver.
7/14/2006 4:06:32 AM EDT
[#31]
He told me if I didn't buy it, it was going back in the safe. He also said he had it check and it is the real deal.
7/14/2006 4:19:17 AM EDT
[#32]
Neither.

But if it's gotta be one, I'd take the Galil.
7/21/2006 9:46:49 PM EDT
[#33]
Best solution is to get both! hehe

If i have luxury to buy both, i would get galil first.

However, if i have to choose 1, i would get FS2000.

+1, and less plastic

Galils are not made or imported anymore and the price will likely go up

FS2000s are imported and the numbers will increase and the price will drop.

From the economics of it the Galil is a better bet.

But don't stop there, what gun do you like better?
7/22/2006 12:37:27 AM EDT
[#36]
I like both but I want something I will shoot and the Galil won't be shot. Now waiting on the recall. I don't know what I am going to do. I want a PS90, GRP, a couple AR's, scopes, ammo, etc.

If they ever make or sell the Steyr AUG A3s in the US, one will have my name on it. They have a proven 25+ year track record.
7/22/2006 9:25:41 AM EDT
[#38]
I do like the A3 and I will probably get one. Especially if they release the Tavor, I will have to own all the bullpups, A3, FS2000, and Tavor.
7/22/2006 10:06:24 AM EDT
[#39]
I'd hit git it
7/24/2006 8:58:42 AM EDT
[#40]
I will probably regret it but I just purchased a SPAS-12 and one of the FS2000 lists I was on, came through. I will get the FS next weekend.
7/24/2006 9:09:34 AM EDT
[#41]
May I ask which waiting list came through?
7/24/2006 8:49:51 PM EDT

Local dealer in Gadsden, Al. He must sell alot of FN stuff, this is his second and no one in Birmingham has gotten a FS2000 yet.
