I don't know that its been tried or wildcatted, if so it has why hasn't this caught on? A semi-automatic handgun cartridge, .50, much less powerful than the .50 Action Express, but a step up from the .45 ACP at least in size. Say 225 to 350 grain, 800 to 950 feet per second. A short high pressure cartridge that would fit in a 1911 or very slightly larger profile frame. Something that would justify the size of the HK MK23. Wouldn't this make sense to those who like the .45 but want just a little more? Recoil would be a little more stout but wouldn't the tradeoff be worth having a pocket post hole digger? |
Already done; it's called the .50 GI; made by Guncrafter Industries.![]() ![]() www.m1911.org/mod_guncrafter.htm |

Would the .45 Super fit the bill? I don't claim to know alot about it, but it was quite the hot topic for a while. Click here |

Nice. I will sleep well tonight knowing this. My thought process was, I just thought it would be a good idea because the .45 has nothing going for it* except its effectiveness due to its heavy bullet weight and size of wound channel, and the fancy guns you shoot it out of, of course Who's going to be the first to start a "which is better" thread in GD? *Limited capacity, expensive guns, size weight and recoil make it a handful for small or female persons, and to stir the pot. |
