I'm sure everyone here hates these kinds of threads but I'm stumped between what I want. I currently own a shotgun and I'd like to buy a rifle that I can shoot at the range.
I'm stumped between a Bushmaster M16A2 which I will most likely convert to 6.8 SPC or an M14.
I love AR's but shooting .223 just isn't fun for me, I like to be able to have some fun when I go shooting, which is why I'm considering the SPC conversion from Randall Rausch.
The shop that I wish to buy from has a used M14, looks like it may have been fired only once. The wood furniture doesn't even have anything close to a scuff on it, it looks pristine but the barrel has a little bit of scuffing from what looks liek to be from another barrel rubbing against it. It's not discolored, still the matte black just some wear. It's a Springfield Armory too and it's for 1,200$.
I'm a little iffy on buying used things but .308 is such a great caliber, along with sub-MOA, etc.
I'm stumped, someone PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY

Well, if your just going to turn around and convert the AR, perhaps you should go with the M1A. Plus, while ammo is available for the 6.8 SPC, current .308 surplus is much cheaper to shoot.

If I were in your position I would get the M1A. Ammo and accessories are plentiful and it's a lot of fun to shoot.

I've been leaning towards the good ol' M1A Is 1,200$ for a Pristine condition used M1A a good price?

Speaking of which, does anyone make a retail or a custom .50 Beowulf conversion for the AR series?
