| I am interested in getting a K31 because they seem to be extremely cheap, and I hear high quality. All the ones I have seen online are beat to hell. Does anyone know where I good get one that has a nice looking stock? Thanks. |

Allan's Armory has select grade K31s. Try to find a 1930's era walnut stocked rifle. they tend to not be as chewed up. the Swiss troops went to a hob-nailed type boot in the 40's (I think) and that chewed up the butt during rifle drills. I know of no "replacement" stocks available, but I enjoy reworking the really abused K31 stocks I have. Go to the Curio and Relic forum for more detail, or swiss rifles dot com |
Thanks for the link. |
Too bad a new stock is more expensive than the rifle. |
Boyd's has had some bad reviews on Swissrifles.com They require a LOT of fitting and the dimensions seem to be off spec. I have no personal experience, just passing on overheard conversations of others. YMMV |

Well, I got a Boyd's stock for my M1, and aside from being really fat in the grip, it fits fine. I'd go for a K31 new stock. Maybe get a $59 AIM Surplus rifle. They're cheap because they're usually beat up and faded in the metal, but they're still great rifles. So for $200 or less, you could have one kick ass rifle. Heck, if you decide to clean up and refinish the original stock, you might only be out a little more than $100. Ammo is a little expensive. Hopefully Wolf will get their stuff out in more quantity over the coming months, which will hopefully drive the prices down a little, too. |
