Is anyone planning on getting one of these when they become available?  Only thing holding me back is the ammo, unsure about the rounds future availability.

Thought about getting one but discounted it after I saw how much the ammo costs. A 50 rd bulpup design carbine is something I would normally have to have. The $65 or $70 it costs to fill the one magazine is the deciding factor for me.

ammo costs will go down by the time the p90 hits the market.

Thats what is holding me back too.  I know that it is a NATO round but probably not a popular one.  Can't see a ton of it hitting the market and driving the prices up.  Too bad they can't make it in 9mm.

I would not want one in 9mm.  I will be purchasing one.  I am confident the ammo will be there.  Every major ammo manufacturer will make ammo within a year of the P90s release.  Just watch.

Fiocci is starting production of 5.7 ammo here in the US by August or so, just dont know which load(s) they will make. This will ease up the ammo situation considerably

If the ammo gets to be cheeeper that will hopefully be my first sbr and maybe i'll also have a suppressor!

Local indoor range will have an FN rep there today to show off the P90 and FN2000. Leaving shortly to check them out.

Just got back. They had both the P90 and the F2000. They both handle fantastic! I can't make up my mind which one to get. So in arfcom tradition, I put my name on the list for both.

The MSRP for the P90 was $1395 and the F2000 was $1595. MSRP doesn't always mean it though. Shopping around should get better prices.
They had quit a few 5.7 handguns for $839.

The P90 ergonomics were really something. It felt so natural to shoulder. The optic left a bit to be desired. The view window was too small and the reticle was way to light to make out. Maybe it was supposed to light up, I don't know. The light grey color of the reticle didn't seem to well thought out. I will opt for the EOTech on it.

The F2000 seemed strange to shoulder. But after doing it a few times it got a bit easier to do. The mag well was a bit tight, the rep said it was already addressed and wouldn't be like the show model.

The slab side of the "pistol grip" was too narrow. It really needs a swell area to fill the grip. People with larger hands won't like this feature. If I get one of the 2000's I will definately add to and re-conture the grip area. This aspect of it didn't seem well thought out.
The foregrip was very comfortable. The rep told me the name of the company that will be making after market lights, laserss and what not interchangable foregrips, but I don't remember it right now.

In all, I like both rifles, a lot. I will get one of each. But they might need a bit of personalization to make it really right for each shooter.

2 thumbs up for FN!

YES I will be getting a Civillian Version of the P90 called the PS90, and a shit pot full of mags and accessories. But just ONE.  Plus when the reloading dies, ETC, become available out I will be rolling my own. I will be first in line when the Shop I perfer dealing with gets one. Yes I will be getting a Fake suppressor for it, if they are ever available. (Dont really want to get into the whole SBR Stuff right now.) With pillbox's post about Fiocci starting to make ammo, im very happy now. So what am I gonna do with it. Well Its gonna be for home defense. Yes that right home defense.

YES I have held and fired the LEO Military Version P90 and they are the FUNK. Its kinda like DAMN this is way to freakin cool. BUT it is LESS Effective without the full auto feature. Not even gonna worry about Full Auto, wont be able to purchase one with it NOT even pre-86 versions so why care. Its amazing how the weapon became one with me when I shot it. The Shortness of the gun amazing, and even with a 6" extra Inches will still be effective.

In 2 years this thing will be popular. Gonna be intersting when someone puts a picture on here with a P90 and M4 side by side. Ive seen the 2 side by side. And All i'm gonna say is .

How does this thing look with the long barrel?
7/10/2005 5:40:13 AM EDT
[#15]
The barrel was bobbed back a bit and had an inch pattern FAL looking flash hider on it. Not really FAL looking, but at first glance it resembles it. It was more tear dropped shaped though. It didn't look nearly as bad as the first versions that hit the net had it looking.
I was really impressed with it.

I hope they did do something to the flash suppressor arrangement , that early style M249 Minimi
vented cone looked ickey on it based on the photos....I couldnt understand why they just didnt use a regular P90 flash suppressor.
7/10/2005 9:58:12 AM EDT
[#17]
So is the flash hider removable?
7/10/2005 3:31:34 PM EDT
[#18]
from whats been posted before..no it isnt removable
7/10/2005 5:25:28 PM EDT
[#19]
It looks to be threaded and then blind pinned. Not welded over though.
7/10/2005 9:52:25 PM EDT
[#20]
I wonder if the flash hider birngs it up to 16 inches or if the barrel is 16inches without the flash hider...

I want an F2000 so bad. When are they coming to market? Oh and do they have any parts commonality with AR15's?

Wow All I had to do is tell my good buddy at his gun store I wanted one of the shipment they will be getting and he said "OK I'll put one in the back room for ya"

Why would FN care about parts commonality with a AR15? Having seen good photos of the guts of a FN2000 , its safe to say a big no on that. Dec/Jan is the last I heard on the arrival.

Thinking about getting one. I have the FiveseveN now and really like it. But if it's that grey/green deal I would just have to Duracoat it.

There is alot of controversy about the ammo being body armor piercing, what I am worried about is having a gun that I will not be able to shoot.

Its less armor piercing than M855 which is legal... what controversy are you talking about?  Why would you be worried?  There are .223 pistols so that not a concern.  As long as the bullet is lead and copper and not tungsten why would AP considerations concern you?

If they had released the PS90 to the public first(a carbine) none of that would have been a hairy deal about the ammo.
