Hello, when you order a firearm through an FFL dealer, how much does it usually cost over the wholesale price?  Any info would be appreciated.

Prices will vary, but here's what my FFL does.  First, if it's something new that they can get, they won't do a transfer on it.  If it's used, or some specialty thing (ie. surplus stuff) they don't handle, then it's $35 for the first firearm, and $5 for each additional one.

Find a wholesaler that will charge you direct, then that has a list of FFL's that will do the transfer to you (unit shipped to them).  On something like this, its the price of the unit, shipping cost, and around $20 for the FFL fee for the transfer.

If you mean standard mark up of the dealers cost, verses full retail, that just depends on the unit.

If you are talking about transfer fees, we charge $20 for transfers ($40 on title II firearms).  If you have a CHL and we don't have to do the NICS check, then we charge $15.

In terms of marking up guns for resale, it totally depends on the gun.  That said, it is very difficult to sell guns at more than a 15% markup.

Wow. Folks in CONUS are lucky that the transfer fees are that low. Out here a Transfer Dealer normally charges $75 PER firearm (including stripped lowers). Lucky if you can find someone who can do it for $50 per firearm.  The normal mark-up is also outrageous at almost 45% out here.

All that said, going the route of purchasing straight from a dealer in CONUS and using a holder here saves BIG $$$.

if the FFL order the gun for you.....expect to pay 15 percent or so over wholesale, not  a hard and fast rule, some may charge you more then 15 percent depending on the gun.......or the MSRP on the gun, which is usually higher then the percentage over wholesale.......oh and  don't forget to add in sales tax, most folks forget that little part when the FFL orders the firearm for you.
