I've had this gun for quite some time now ( about 10 years or so) and it's been a good camp/hiking gun, it's a 22 Hornet /.410.  I finally have decided that I want to put a small lower powered scope on it so that I can better utilize the .22 Hornet round that it's chambered in.  Hornet ammo is too expensive to just plink with and I'd like to finally seeing what the little gun is capable of shooting.
My question to folks that may have one or be otherwise familiar with them is...Is there a scope base (probably a Weaver type) that will line up with the holes on the receiver.  I know that Springfield Armory sells a base specifically for it but it would be cheaper if I could find a base at my local gunshop that might be compatible.  I have a spare Weaver TO-9 (10/22) base that I was going to cut up but the spacing on the holes is just slightly off the receiver holes.

I also recently got the gun refinished as well.  It had been through some tough conditions and the finish showed it.  I had the gun refinished with Gunkote.  It looks 100% better now.

Buy the base from SA.  It fits perfectly and is not all that expensive.

I probably will but it pains me to spend $29.00 + shipping on it.  I was hoping someone might have been in the same situation and found a little bit more "cost effective" solution.

I understand.  But by the time you obtain the correct base, modify it to suit the barrel's contour, drill and countersink holes for the screws you need to get, AND figure in your time, (don't forget refinishing the base and screws) the $30 doesn't seem quite so bad.  YMMV.

Damn you people of logic!!

I'll be back after I drive 30 miles to save .04/gal on some gas.

have one just like yours.....picked up a cheap Leupold base (don't recall #) a cheap bsa red dot.  cut the base to the length of the red dot weaver style base....voila!   shoots tight groups & I MIGHT have 35 bucks in the whole deal..try it, you'll like it!

Cool weapon.

I kinda liked the 550 cord you used to have on it.

Did the holes line up with the receiver holes? I tried a T-09 Weaver base but the holes didn't quite line up.  The screws that came with the base (I had one laying around) didn't fit the receiver holes.  If you could remember the base # I might give it a try.  I'm thinking of a small red-dot type scope myself to keep the unit as compact as possible.

I have the 550 cord back on the barrels now.  I took that pic right after I got it back from the guy who coated it for me.  I have a spare pin wrapped into the cord in case I ever lost the one in the gun while out in the field.

It's a really fun little gun.  In fact I had it out to a buddys place a few weeks ago and we busted some clay birds he would launch with his thrower.

The base is made so as to fit, and comes with screws.

After installing the base, you might have to lose the cord.  All is not lost, however.  Just go to the auto parts store and get a length of black heater hose whose inner diameter  is the same as the shotgun barrel, trim to the desired length, and remove enough of the hose material (2 lengthwise cuts) so that it will fit snugly to the shotgun barrel but not interfere with the rifle barrel.  If need be, affix it with some hi-temp silicone adhesive or somesuch.

Note that the front sight bracket has a hole in the lower portion, which is perfect for a sling swivel.  To affix a rear sling swivel, remove the screw near the toe of the buttstock, obtain a wood-screw threaded sling stud, and screw it in.  Attach  another (rear) swivel and your sling and you're done.

If you really want to increase the versatility of your rifle, consider buying some sub-caliber adaptors here:www.mcace.com/.  Go stainless if at all possible.

Small bore:

Sorry, but I didn't keep the packaging & did the install last fall...Anyway, the items (scope & base were bought at Wal-Mart.   Just measure the screw hole distance & you ought to be able to decide if it'll fit or not.  Of course the base was way overlength, & when cut, the cut intersected a mount hole on the foward end of the base.  It's really an easy job & from the photo's you posted you ought to be able to keep the cord wrap you have on the bbl's.    I'll see if I can post a pic.
