Ok, I'll guess the shotty toting alien. The 308 round will over penetrate at that range. However when the Alien gets hit, he will probably blast the dame with the shotty. The shotty is gonna make a bigger hole than the m14. Meaning the alien wins.

I could have possibly over thought that a bit though.

An M14 will penetrate armor and will seek out whatever vital organ would kill the alien immmediately, or so every gung-ho Marine has ever told me. Oh and the M14 is the best rifle ever and handed down to marines from God himself.
