on my answering machine tonight.  Firearms Technology Branch.  I sent off a letter about 6 weeks ago about building an AR pistol and the requirements and such.  Just a CYA.  I've always just gotten a letter back to my inquiries explaining the answer to my question.  They want me to call them back.  Is this common?

I've had phone conversations with the ATF and it's always gone well. Most likely they have follow-up questions or they didn't fully understand something in your letter.

Everytime I have called with a question they have been very helpful. I'ts not the people that contact them they worry about it's the other 99% that don't.

I received a letter from the BATF recently answering some questions I had. They have never tried to reach me via the telephone.

The guys who clarify for a living are your friends, but the enforcement visitors have a very different attitude. Call them back since they prob just have a follow up question about how you wrote something.

With the AWB gone,  doesn't the 50 ounce limit on pistols no longer apply?


It's one part of the ban I never paid much attention to as I never wanted an AR pistol.
